1. Social Distancing, handwashing and Masks are reducing the spread of the flu. (Which is transmitted in the same way as Covid).

2. There is a hypothesis that the flu (another Coronavirus) killed SARS And MERS during flu season. That Coronaviruses compete with each other- and in this case, the flu won against SARS and MERS.
However, Covid appears to have beaten the flu, hence why flu has declined so much around the world. (+reasons 1)

SB

Dying of flu gas been a problem for centuries and other morbidities as well - but the HIV issue came from the 1970's when it originated from Central  Africa.   The reason for deaths were not flu itself - but development of pneumonia  as a result of flu.

The problem with Covid 19  is that in especially the USA  for political campaign purposes the real  cause of death from morbidities  plummeted to levels never heard of before and virtually all deaths from morbidities became Covid  deaths .    The example in the USA  also vecane evident in Europe.

Since February 2021 daily  death  data vanished from the front  pages of the media in the USA,    The problem is that Covid became politicized  in an election year  in  the USA  and that became a destructive recipe  ruining the economies and peoples lives  in many countries,   The statement of yours that flu was taken over by Covid and flu is no longer a problem is questionable  and probably unscientific as well,

Congrats Mike on your efforts to educate poor sharkstnk. But as one tries and sees such poor fruit one realizes poor old sharkstink is as dumb as a rock and has as bigoted "mind" as one could ever find. Ditto old redstink as well. Blob Bok would be just as bad but fortunately says less. Bwahhaahahhaahhaha

Dense denise appears to have deserted us?  Hope the virus hasn't got him!  Stinker group looks to be down really to 2 crazy loons! They should try and recruit that other crazy Stavanger. He has the wrong ideas about just about everything so should qualify!

Flu is not a coronavirus to the best of my knowledge, but I looked it up to make sure .

Virology
Both influenza and coronaviruses have a single strand of RNA as their genome, but that is where the genomic similarity ends. The influenza virus genome comprises 7 or 8 segments, while the coronavirus has one long strand. Influenza virus RNA is what is known as ‘negative sense RNA’. This means that its sequence is the mirror image of the correct code for proteins and a complementary strand must be made from it before production of new viruses within a host cell can proceed. In contrast, the coronavirus genome is ‘positive sense’ which means it can act as messenger RNA and code for proteins. So from a virological point of view, coronavirus is definitely not a type of flu.

Interesting subject, regardless of our individual differences of opinion...or actually because of it?
