This happens when speakers misrepresent the truth and start anti-christian ideologies. We call them Wolves in sheep's clothing.
Hitler was far from Christianity and yet he used it or should I say manipulated the meanings for evil purposes.
Also be careful by what you mean by free speech.
Preaching the true gospel is on the opposite side of hate speech...it's a message of hope, love and warning.
