If the Riversdale area is anything to go by - the results are showing.   The farmers seem to be reluctant to take loans to cover input costs and the wheat production in the area was at least 80% lower than it was in each of the last five years. 

If that is replicated elsewhere the country will soon starve!!!!!

Why don't the farmers try to sell the land before it is taken away from them? It is only a matter of time before the land is repossessed. While they do not want to leave, there does not really have a choice. 

There is no doubt SA will soon have a food shortage - and another scenario will follow as what happened in Zimbabwe

Who will buy farms under the present circumstances?   There are at least 5 000 farms in the Western and Northern Cape alone in the market and no interested buyers at all.  

The first problem is reluctance to raise loans for input costs that is problematic and commercial farmers are afraid to do that since they could not be able to repay those loans which would destroy whatever means they have to live from in future,

In the meantime there  is a spike in farm attacks and murders and especially the elderly are targeted.   What a disgrace this country has become.   It is clear that the politico's has already decided which farms they want to get and as bribery and corruption has become the norm i n SA it really is a disgrace.

I think the western countries are the main suppliers of food aid to Zimbabwe.  Would they also take on that role in SA - since it is a burden caused by self-destruction and for a population nearly 5 times the size of Zimbabwe?

It really is a depressing situation and what will happen to Whites in SA is really a disaster in the making,   It is not only the Whites involved - what about the Coloureds and the Indians as well.  They are in the "firing line" of some of the politico's already.  I can see a major civil war in the making - especially since there is no love lost between the various Black tribes either and there are still an estimated  7 to 8 million foreigners living in SA already - they are already under physical attack as well.
