Lobbyists and inside traders are a favorite pastime for politicians in Western capitalist democracies.

Surely laws have to be introduced to either end lobbying or cap the amount of donations by an individual or company in a year.  (e.g. 1 million).

Then look at ways to avoid inside trading.

Also, independent think tanks to assess if economic decisions such as awarding contracts to friends are actually in the public interest. Also, like if a merger to reduce competition is "actually" in the public interest, when it means thousands lose their jobs, for a few shareholders to increase profits.
Being in the public interest is everyone, or at the majority - not a minority.

SB

Fact is that  in 2014  the Republican controlled House and Senate  - with the help of a few  Moderate Democrat  Senators  - passed a bill to prohibit insider trading and was invited by Obama to a  meeting in the WH Garden to hand over the Bill.   The Press was invited  to the function as well.

At the handover meeting Obama praised Congress for finally coming up with a Bill that would deal with Insider Trading and one would have thought  that he would sign the Bill into law - but he never did.    After two months he sent the Bill back for reconsideration after gutting  it totally and turned it into a worthless piece of junk.

The Republican Party refused to pass the amendments suggested by Obama and the few Democrats - who originally supported the Bill fled from the scene.      So there is no legislation  in the USA  forbidding  insider trading.

The longest serving Senators and House Members are those mostly involved in insider trading and  are the main beneficiaries in the system.    Take for instance Nancy Pelosi - she is fabulously wealthy after her 42 years as House member  and also Joe Biden  and  Bernie Sanders.

So how does these people make money out of  the system?     The one way is to advise  companies  what to do  to  use loopholes in the legislation or  how they can structure  strategies to  undermine the application of the legislation.    The second one is whenever there is a joint control by the House and the Presidency to buy massive numbers of shares in the companies affected by new policy announcements before the changes are announced,    The members themselves  will not buy the shares - their husbands/wives  or children would do the buying.

This is a problem for both sides of the House - but rarely found in the RP and persistent in the DP on large scale.      Obama was neck-deep in insider trading and  made a fortune out of it - as well as from bribery and corruption,      When Obama enter the Senate he declared his assets as $100 000  - four years later when he became President he declared his assets as $3,5 million.   When he left the presidency he went on a luxury home buying spree and bought 5 properties for an estimated $32 million  and that was before the book and movie deal he made later on.

The Clintons were even worse -- they came to Washington penniless when Bill became President and is now worth an estimated $200 million - mostly gained from corruption using the Clinton Foundation.

The guy who dealt with it in the video missed out a few particulars - like a $3 million share buy in Tesla by Pelosi's husband a week before Biden announced a $25 billion investment in production of electric cars as part of his infrastructure proposals.   And then there were Schiff and Pelosi's involvement in the Ukraine - when Pelosi's son stole $25 million of USAID money and Schiff got kickbacks from a Ukraine arms manufacturer Stepanek before  Trump refused to pay for arms production in the Ukraine and kept money back - finally taking a decision to buy arms in the USA and sent that to he Ukraine.    Schiff's election campaigns were funded by Soros and Stepanek -  the latter of whom has a  subsidiary company in the USA on the board of which two of Schiff's staff members are Directors.

Viskop,

If Pelosi's husband makes a trade, do the same, with all the $ you have.

Guy is a "genius".
