Don't know how Musk thinks Malema is a front runner but calling this guy out is great.
Anti-White South African Presidential Frontrunner is ‘A Genocidal Lunatic’, Says Elon Musk
This topic is boring. I'm not interested in it at all.
However, if your topic had been something like "Discussion on Board Games" I would have been all over it.
I love boardgames.
I enjoy all the staples like Risk, chess, Monopoly, Scrabble, Go and Catan but I'd add a few lesser known boardgames like Ticket To Ride, Wingspan and Scythe.
However the three best multiplayer boardgames of all are as follows . . . and this is coming from a lifelong boardgame fan so if you also enjoy boardgames and you haven't heard or played any of these you can thank me later!
3. Azul
A beautiful, simple and elegant (and relatively cheap) game. Two, three or four players, games typically last about 30 minutes. Very easy to learn and very simple mechanics but, while there is a small element of luck involved, lots of strategic and tactical thinking required. Young kids also love it. My 9 yo grandson beats me as often as I beat him.
2. Dune Imperium - Rise of Ix expansion
For 2 to 4 players. There's some debate over whether 3 or 4 players is the better game but note that the 2 player version requires a 3rd player which is a bot who uses a separate set of cards. Definitely better with 3 or 4 players.
It's a complex strategic game which takes quite long to play (between 1.5 and 2 hours). It will take a game or two before you get the hang of it but once you've learned the mechanics it offers a rich diversity of tactics and strategy which rewards efficiency of resources and a good memory.
It's a brilliant game but there are two downsides. Firstly it's quite expensive to buy but my son-in-law (another avid boardgamer) found a website where you can play online. I haven't tried it myself (yet) but it's a much cheaper way to play. Secondly, because of its rapid success, there have been a few expansions already and a new expansion this year. I don't really like games that upgrade and chop and change too much but the expansion did improve the game and the new expansion might be even better.
1. Diplomacy
My favourite. The single biggest problem with Diplomacy is finding 7 (and exactly seven) people to play a 6 hour game on a regular basis. My dad used to have a group that played while I was still a kid and I used to fill in sometimes but I can honestly count on one hand the number of complete Diplomacy games I ever played until the internet came along. Now it's easy to play all the time at WebDiplomacy.net
Each player is given a power to play in pre-WW1 Europe: Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Austro-Hungary and Turkey. You start off occupying your home centres with fleets or armies and you have to try and expand to take neutral centres nearby or enemy home centres. You do this by making correct tactical decisions (moving, supporting a move, convoying armies across water) and (more importantly) forging alliances with other Powers to gang up on weaker enemies. Your ability to convince someone to do something he doesn't really want to do is the key to Diplomacy. It's also important to be ruthless. There are 34 centres and the first player to own 18 centres is the winner.
There are several variants to the map you can play but the principles of move, support, convoy remain the same. However, as good as the original game is, the Modern variant (10 powers set in Modern day Europe and a bigger map) is even better.
Chess is almost in a category of its own as a boardgame but its not a multiplayer game and for me, Diplomacy is the best ever multiplayer boardgame, followed by Dune Imperium and Azul.
Hahahahaha poor rooitwit is deeply miffed I highlighted how much of the art world is pretentious snobbery and fake.
