"Russia faced a further setback on the battlefield as Ukraine drove its troops out of the region around the second largest city Kharkiv, the fastest advance since forcing the Kremlin’s forces from Kyiv and the northeast over a month ago.

On the front lines, Ukraine has mounted a counteroffensive in recent days, ousting Russian forces from villages north and east of Kharkiv they had held since the start of the invasion.

Reuters journalists have confirmed that Ukraine is in control of territory stretching to the banks of the Siverskiy Donets River, about 40 kilometres east of Kharkiv."

Warms the cockles of my heart.

Is that the truth though.?    The   Russians did not threaten Kiev at all - they have no interest in occupying Kiev in the first instance  - but Kharkov has been a Russian city for the better part of a thousand years - and that is a different issue altogether.    .

The   Russians did not threaten Kiev at all

How utterly utterly deluded do you have to be to believe that.

- they have no interest in occupying Kiev in the first instance

So why did they attack Kyiv?

but Kharkov has been a Russian city for the better part of a thousand years - and that is a different issue altogether.

That's quite an impressive feet considering the city was only founded in 1654.

Well its true they didn't  threaten kiev as they were busy getting their arse smacked before they got there.

Once they got their balls out of the fire they ran for the hills.

The people in power sold their own soldiers down the river by all the Corruption that gave them useless equipment but who cares over there. The slaves will do nothing but die for their filthy rich leaders and so it will continue.

You are absolutely deluded by propaganda.   Go and look at the areas occupied by Russian troops and none of it was iro Kiev per se.   The areas occupied are areas with a high percentage  of Russian speaking people and they will not let these ethnic Russians in the lurch and subject to oppression by the Ukraine.

I am not in favor of the Russian invasion - to my mind the BRICS countries are correct - the problems should have been cleared up through negotiation - but that is not what Biden had in mind - he sabotaged all negotiations.   Reason - the impact of kick backs paid to Democratic Party  crime families are too tempting to resist - the more money the US made available to Ukraine the more the political crime families like the Biden, Pelosi and Schiff families benefit through the standard 10% kickbacks.   Those are the facts the ignorant people ignore - they rather believe everything the fake media in the USA spout - and if they are too stupid to realize they are being lied to - the more they make fools of themselves.  .      .

Looks increasingly likely Ukraine has won the Battle of Kharkiv. Can't wait to hear how supporters of the Russian invasion are going spin this as all part of Russia's grand master plan.

Putin never wanted to conquer Kharkiv, nor Kyiv. He just sent thousands of troops and tanks for a Sunday stroll while they watch the bombs in the sky.

There was never a direct land attack on Kiev in the last three months - so are you too stupid to realize that the so-called planned attack on Kiev was a story concocted by the USA.    Kharkiv - as you called it by the Ukrainian name - was an entirely different situation.   It was and remained a Russian city and has been for many centuries until 1954 being a major Russian city  when it became part of Ukraine to ensure that Russian speaking people control the Ukraine.

My question purely related to a disinformation story about an attack on Kiev, which were according to the media repulsed - but in fact never occurred.    . Whatever happened in Kiev was a bombing attack on  certain facilities in  the city through air and missile attacks  on  the city., but that is entirely different from a land attack by the army and in fact it never took place

Stav

Based on what real information - there is no real evidence that an attack on the city took place other than the story Denny came up with.  The latest map indicate that The Ukraine army has sent troops to he Russian Border - where no attacks took place and they made no real impression on areas at present occupied by Russian soldiers.    Fact is they lost more than 20% of the area of Ukraine at present under Russian control.

Apparently the  Ukraine Government informed the Ukraine commander in Mariupol that  they were sending in the Army to help the soldiers in Mariupol defending the city and since nothing happened  the said commander and some Ukraine soldiers fled from the city and  when found they surrendered.   The only Ukrainian soldiers still in a steel mill on the outskirts of the city and the only soldiers in that mill are members of the Azov Battalion - which cannot surrender to Russia because they would be charged with crimes they committed in the city in 2015 and subsequently.    Information of the murder of citizens in the city did take place and was continuing afterwards.

I look at the maps and see what is really going on - but you lap up newspaper stories as true.- so good luck to you dream- world.

Putin was under the misapprehension that the Ukrainians would roll over once he declared war on them, the delusional wee Vladi is in shock horror now that his "special operation" has turned into a special nightmare from which he can't recover. Furthermore the Oligarchs are miserable as the Russian economy starts to crumble.......man have they lost faith in wee Vladi as their bank accounts wither at the rate of knots! A scenario that was never part of the script.

So erm SubstantialFool wanna tell us again how strong is your super hero the brutal and murderous war monger wee Vladi Huh? And perhaps you wanna leave it to obese Donnie to tell us about smart wee Vladi Huh?

Sweet dreams.

Denny

The only question I have for you is what makes you believe that Putin thought "that the Ukrainians  would roll over once he declared  war on them"?

I do not think that Putin was right in attacking Ukraine and he is not my hero anyway.    Everything should have been resolved by negotiation prior to the invasion - but the Biden Administration sabotaged the negotiations and still is continuing with that sabotage so they could wage a proxy war against Russia to justify the destruction they caused to the USA Economy -  allowing them to blame Russia and not themselves for the internal disaster they caused in the USA.

Quite funny...bird brains believe everything published.

The oblast borders Bryansk Oblast (Russia) on the northeast, Belgorod Oblast and Kursk Oblast (Russia) on the east, Poltava Oblast on the southwest, Kharkiv Oblast on the south, and the Chernihiv Oblast on the west.

The Sumy Oblast is in NE Region of Ukraine and Includes Kharkiv in the South.

A paint ball game...LOL.

Reuters mocked over paintball image in Ukraine conflict report The media outlet used a paintball training photo in an article on the Russian offensive Screenshot © Twitter / Reuters

The Reuters news agency has become the target of online ridicule after it published a report on the Ukraine conflict alongside an image of what appeared to be people playing airsoft.

The report was released on Monday, stating that Ukrainian soldiers had driven off Russian forces in Sumy Region, with the headline reading: “Ukrainian border guards repelled an incursion by a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group in the northeastern region of Sumy on Monday, the governor of the Sumy region said.”

However, what drew the attention of users online was not the content of the report, but the image used to illustrate it. The photo, which was apparently meant to represent Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the frontlines, upon closer look, actually shows a group of people seemingly playing a round of paintball, equipped with the characteristic masks and paintball guns.

A link to the article, posted alongside the aforementioned image, was published to the Reuters Twitter account, where it remains, despite receiving hundreds of comments pointing to the ill-fitting image.

Some users have stated that this Reuters post is a prime example of why it’s become increasingly difficult to trust mainstream media reports on complex foreign conflicts such as the one in Ukraine, which is already hard to follow due to the avalanche of conflicting and misleading reports supposedly coming from the frontlines.
