Biden Agrees International Deal to Block China from Creating its own Computer Chips

US President Joe Biden’s administration secured an agreement with the Netherlands and Japan to restrict exports of some advanced chipmaking machinery to China in talks that concluded Friday in Washington, according to people familiar with the matter.

The agreement, aimed at undercutting Beijing’s ambitions to build its own domestic chip capabilities, would extend some export controls the US adopted in October to companies based in the two allied nations, including ASML Holding NV, Nikon Corp. and Tokyo Electron Ltd.

There is no plan for a public announcement of the restrictions, and actual implementation could take months as the two countries finalize legal arrangements, people familiar with the matter said.

“Talks are ongoing, for a long time already, but we don’t communicate about this. And if something would come out of this, it is questionable if this will be made very visible,” Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said earlier Friday in The Hague in response to a question about the talks.

“This is such a sensitive topic that the Dutch government chooses to communicate diligently, and that means that we only communicate in a very limited way,” Rutte said.

A spokeswoman for the White House’s National Security Council didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. A Dutch trade ministry spokesperson declined to comment.

The Netherlands will prevent ASML from selling to China at least some immersion lithography machines, the most advanced kind of gear in the company’s deep ultraviolet lithography line. The equipment is crucial to making cutting-edge chips. Japan will set similar limits on Nikon.

The agreement is a victory for Biden, who seeks to constrain Beijing’s military advancement by cutting the country off from the world’s tiniest semiconductors. But ASML’s chief executive officer, Peter Wennink, has warned that the US campaign could have unintended consequences, predicting that China will develop the technology itself instead of importing it. “That will take time, but ultimately they will get there,” he said Jan. 25.

It is an exercise in BS spreading by Biden - bluffing the world in acting against China on a basis that will never work out.    China has got Biden by the shorts and he will not act against the ultra-rich in the USA with their ties to China anyway.    

Biden apparently does not know he is destabilizing the World - but is there anything other than corruption that he does know.    You do not mind China - because China co-operate with the WEF who has close ties to China and those are the people who also control Biden.   So you do not like Russia because they are not prepared to destroy their culture and become slaves of the Fascists - while you support it.

American corporates love the cheap labour in China and the lack of human rights laws. 

The America Oligarchs (Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Zuckerberg etc) are content to screw over future generations by giving the IP to other countries, who can use this to create their own companies in the future. China's main goal is to develop its own companies, instead of just being the sub-contracted manufacturing arm of the West. 

All while America's middle class is collapsing because of all of the jobs being shipped overseas, making the average Americans poorer and dumber.  If they kept the jobs inside the US, the IP would remain within US borders. Instead, China is happily using it to build its own middle-class, while the US (and the West) are somewhat stagnant.

You are totally misinformed in this case.   Biden got millions from the Chinese.   He took Hunter with him to China on Air Force 2 and came back with an agreement that Hunters Company would buy majority shares in a Cobalt mine in Mexico - amount S1.5 billion.   Joe claimed he was nt aware of the deal - but he himself met with the Chairman of the Chinese National Bank -  Commission was 10% of which Joe got 50%.   Joe Biden agreed to release oil from the national Strategic Oil Reserve - 1 million barrels of it - through Hunter's company   Read what I wrote about Mr Ho in another thread and the Commission was a way of bribing the Biden's.    

There is no country in the world where Hunter goes as agent of Biden that there was no corruption involved.  Try Ukraine, Iran, Iraq, Russia and also every other country that gets aid funds from the USA.  Did the FTX scandal not open your eyes?

What policies did Trump do that actually encourage US companies to employ Americans? None. 
All he does is talk about grievances. His first act in office was to cut taxes for billionaires including himself. 

Biden as bad as he is, at least passed some laws to encourage US companies to keep jobs in the US. It probably wont work as the incentive is too low, but it is at least better than nothing

So you apparently never heard of the Obama trade agreement with China promoting export of jobs for Americans - which Trump tore up.   Neither have you heard about the NAFTA agreement - also an Obama sell-out - which Trump renegotiated with Canada and Mexico stopping transfer of factories to Mexico.

Trump went through on 90% of his promises he made - the other 10% was sabotaged by the Democrats.

 Biden did fuck-all to keep jobs in the USA - what he did weas to have an open border policy enhancing drugs and other entries in the USA.    His so-called labor statistics enhancement was a hoax - since the actual number of unemployed people increased massively - partly because of the 3 million illegal migrants he allowed into the USA - but mainly because he sabotaged the middle class employers in the country.

Tell me one thing - why did 350 000 Californians, 200 000 New Yorkers and 150 000 people from Illinois fled to Republican controlled States in 2022 if the Democratic Party policies were so good?    The economy is collapsing at an alarming rate since Biden took over.
