  • The "key message" for Easter is that people should stay at home
  • There is no specific treatment that has been proven to be effective against coronavirus and there is no vaccine yet
  • Dr Kelly said we are on the "cusp" of an infection rate of less than one person being infected after someone has been infected
  • Instances of transmission to healthcare workers are being investigated, Government "redoubling efforts" to ensure PPE is delivered to front line healthcare workers
  • Retired healthcare workers coming back to work "not compulsory" but numbers have been "substantial"
  • Dr Kelly reiterated that we are "only 14 weeks into the virus"
  • Reports of some people becoming re-infected in South Korea are "concerning"
  • When asked whether borders will have to remain closed for a long period of time, Dr Kelly said a vaccine is "clearly an important goal" and that Australia is not at the stage of lifting any restrictions.
  • Dr Kelly said the NRL is right to plan ahead, but "whether May is the time [to restart the league] will remain to be seen" and that the NRL "definitely will need to get some permission" before restarting the league
  • Will have more to say on schools in the coming weeks but the Government "has not advised the closure of schools"

Both Australia and Ne Zealand are fairly easy to close down to people entering the country from abroad,    The borderless EU and the porous SA Border is not so and in the USA the Democrats took the Government to court when they close the border for people coming from Europe.  When the same happened earlier iro people from China Trump was accused of racisim.

In Australia and New Zealand the Governments did not have to fight the virus battle against the virus  as well as the opposition - there were unity of purpose in those two countries,   In the USA it was all-out war by the Democrats and the media iro anything done by the Central Government, while the State Government of for instance New York sabotaged the program of the Government with disastrous consequences for the people of New York City especially,

In SA the lock down resulted in looting and burning down 22 schools and troops having to battle people who did not adhere to the lockdown conditions.   The fact is the  country remains in chaos despite the lock down.

Congrats to Australia and Ne Zealand for their success thus far,  Condemnation of the rest for turning the virus into a political charade and a cover for criminality,   .           .

It wasn't plain sailing in the beginning with some ignoring government appeals, also there were instances of some spitting on the police but retribution was swift and effective with heavy penalties imposed for those who broke the law.

The biggest blunder was allowing virus infected passengers off the Ruby Princess without putting them into self isolation. The end resul t of that stuff up increased our numbers.
