Eva Cassidy - Over the Rainbow (Judy Garland) . . . Among many other Eva Cassidy covers that were better than the original . . . probably easier to name the Eva Cassidy songs that weren't better than the original.

Johnny Cash - Hurt - (Nine Inch Nails)

Leona Lewis - Run (Snow Patrol)

Cowboy Junkies - Sweet Jane (Velvet Underground) . . . Seems a bit odd that a band that wrote so many brilliant songs of their own would feature twice on a best covers top 6 but there you go . . . 

Not better, but a very worthy effort.

Disagree about Leona Lewis, Rooinek ! 

I'm surprised becs. I know Leona Lewis didn' t do much else but what she did with that song was pretty special . . . and if you don't believe me, Google what Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody had to say about Leona's version.

It’s just my personal choice. It’s one of my favourite songs.

An interesting thread until our resident attention seeking bore forced his company ensuring  it to go sour and south. 

I remain interested in your taste Rooi, tried to find  Over the Rainbow live at the Pickwick version by The Peddlers, it's one of my all-time favourites but unfortunately I was unsuccessful. I had the album but it was stolen out of my car. 

The Eva Cassidy version is soul so are The Peddlers(Live at The Pickwick version)
