Federal prosecutors have charged Donald Trump over his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, the latest criminal case before the former president that comes just weeks after he was charged with retaining national defense information.

Trump was charged with one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States, one count of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.

The indictment lists six co-conspirators who played a central role in his efforts to overturn the election. While unnamed in the document, the details in the indictment show that those people include Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, and Jeff Clark, a former Department of Justice employee.

The 45-page indictment, handed up by a federal grand jury in Washington DC on Tuesday, bluntly recounts how Trump and his allies activities after the 2020 election. In stark detail, it lays out how Trump knowingly spread false allegations about fraud, convened false slates of electors, and attempted to block the certification of the election on January 6.

“This is nothing more than the latest corrupt chapter in the continued pathetic attempt by the Biden Crime Family and their weaponized Department of Justice to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election, in which President Trump is the undisputed frontrunner, and leading by substantial margins,” Trump said in a statement.

“But why did they wait two and a half years to bring these fake charges, right in the middle of President Trump’s winning campaign for 2024? Why was it announced the day after the big Crooked Joe Biden scandal broke out from the Halls of Congress?”

The latest charges compound the mounting legal peril for Trump, the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican nomination, after he was indicted earlier this year in Miami for illegally retaining classified documents, and in New York for paying hush money to an adult film star before the 2016 election.

Trump is also expected to face state charges in Georgia over Trump’s efforts there to reverse his defeat to Joe Biden in the 2020 election. The Fulton county district attorney, Fani Willis, has signalled her intent to file multiple indictments around the first two weeks of August.

The judge randomly assigned to Mr Trump’s case is US District Judge Tanya S Chutkan, a former DC public defender, who was appointed by Barack Obama.

Judge Chutkan graduated from George Washington University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. 

She consistently took the hardest line against Jan 6 defendants of any judge serving on Washington’s federal trial court.

You are very enthusiastic about Trump being  charged - but all so-called charges are politically inspired and has very little to do with reality,   The charges of the passed flopped and the present ones will also flop since it is nothing more than a political witch-hunt.   The fact is that the Justice Department is stupid.   Any charges will expose what really happened on Januay 6 and that will look ugly,   In any event any ruling by this judge would be appealed. 

Now how enthusiastic are you about the Biden corruption that was proved by documentation and real evidence.   The protect efforts by the Justice Department and FBI is falling apart.   Are you supporting the idea of the most corrupt President in the history of the USA  being impeached? 

By the way the Justice Department fouled up badly.   They tried to get a sweetheart Plea Deal  to bury the charges laid against Hunter Biden and contained a condition that there be no further legal investigation of the Joe and Hunter Biden corruption.   Wen the judge asked the crucial questions as to -

*    whether such a plea deal was ever done in the USA - the answer came out that it is a first deal ever entered into; and

*    whether other charges against Biden be  considered the Delaware SA said that there are;

The Judge through out the plea deal after virtually accusing the Justice Department and Biden's lawyers of committing fraud by asking that certain documents be returned to them.   When evidence comes up in the subsequent court hearings Biden (the Big Man as Hunter called him) will be exposed.

The fact is that the Russian  Hoax - invented lies by the Democrats to overturn the election results of 2016 was a real effort by the Democrats to overturn the election result.   Clinton to this day never admitted she lost the election and the Democrats even had a dummy Special Council appointed to investigate the Russian Hoax.   That went on for years after the election and costs millions of dollars.   It was a serious attempt to nullify the 2015 election and floundered in the end.
