A number of people are commenting on the the CDC website reflecting half the numbers of deaths when compared to the Worldometer. Can you make any sense of the CDC figures?

My guess is because the CDC has an official role in death attributions, they don’t count a death until it has been properly processed....the World Barometer data is more current, but not official.
In general the CDC site is hard to navigate and not really suited to current needs.
