DUMB THINGS RUSSIA DID IN THE UKRAINE WAR Sometimes we do not fully realize how stupid, absurd, delusional, and surreal the Russian war in Ukraine is. We got so used to all those idiotic Kremlin statements, to Putin regressing into childhood and being not even able to explain what this war is even about (at a current moment), to mercenary armies of suicidal convicts and Russian neo-Nazis claiming to be "liberating" Ukraine from "Nazim" and at the same time denying Ukraine's very right to exist, that we often miss it out how many insanely mind-blowing things that history textbooks will be telling about this war in the future.

Here's my impromptu list of stupid things that happened to Russia or that have been done by Russia in its full-scale invasion of Ukraine since February 24, 2022. It's far from complete, of course, given the fact that the Kremlin never ceases to amaze at hitting rock bottom. So, over the last 19 months of this war, Russia: - Managed to lose a submarine to a cruise missile, for the first time in human history. - Lost its fleet flagship (for the first time since 1905), the biggest warship sunk since 1945, to a nation that has no navy. - Lost at least 2,300 tanks by now (including some 1,000 during the February-March 2022 blitzkrieg), which is more than all tank forces of the UK, France, Germany, and Italy combined, and is comparable to the entire U.S. Army operational tank fleet. - Exhausted its capabilities to the point of having to de-mothball T-62 and T-54/55 tanks that were of relevance around the Cuban Missile Crisis era.Managed to basically exhaust the gargantuan Soviet stockpile of artillery munitions (which was considered endless) due to insane over-expenditure that reached 60,000 rounds a day in Donbas in mid-2022. - Was seriously expecting to conquer and occupy an unfriendly 40-million nation with a 150,000-strong invasion force. - Plunged into full-swing fascism, a mass cult of territorial grabs, and militaristic hysteria under the Z-swastika while claiming to be ancestors of WWII victors. - Had its troops digging dugouts in the highly contaminated soil of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. - Was so successful that, 6 months after the invasion day, it had to declare mobilization for the first time since 1941 and 1914. - Failed to score air supremacy despite obvious advantage over Ukraine's air force in quality and numbers - Simply declared a 40-million European nation "Nazi" and thus entitled itself to eradicate and occupy it in a war of aggression. - Had a daring landing operation at a strategic airfield that was supposed to be a crushing blow upon the Ukrainian capital but

nonetheless failed on day 1. - Lost up to two battalion tactical groups (!) to Ukrainian artillery while trying to cross a river in Donbas in May 2022 - Spent a month trying to break into Kyiv and then simply left, having failed the entire war's key axis, with its most elite forces severely degraded. - As the world's second strongest military, it became dependent on Iranian supplies of kamikaze drones (and likely ballistic missiles) and begged North Korea to provide it with artillery munitions. - Seriously believed Putin's kin Viktor Medvedchuk, who had spent years plundering the Kremlin money and telling cool stories on how Ukrainians were just dreaming of being part of Russia again.

Had its regular military so insanely successful that it had to hastily pump up a "private military company" led by a catering tycoon (a former street criminal) and a neo-Nazi, which recruited masses of suicidal convicts and practiced ISIS-style executions on camera. - As the world's second strongest military power, it re-introduced the phenomenon of "meat grinder assaults" in Europe in the year 2022. - Spent hundreds of missiles to strip a 40-million European nation of electricity and heating in the dead of winter -- and failed. - Occupied nuclear power plants and deployed military forces at their facilities -- for the first time in human history. - Spent a year and lost tens of thousands of men fighting for the ruins of a mid-sized provincial town of Bakhmut (which it declared the new Stalingrad), the eventual capture of which resulted in no further progress at all and was quickly forgotten. - Had its daily acts of nuclear blackmailing so overused that everyone eventually stopped paying attention.

Had Putin ribbon-cutting a wonder wheel in Moscow during the disastrous defeat in Kharkiv Oblast and visiting a turkey farm in Tiumen following the withdrawal from Kherson. - Unleashed the biggest European war since WWII and, after things went south, began whining about Ukraine not willing to have a "ceasefire" and a "deal in negotiations." - Made the West wake up and provide Ukraine with weapons ranging from artillery to tanks, air defense, missiles, and now also jet fighters. - Faced an armed rebellion by the "private military company" which easily captured a key Russian city, a key military HQ, and then moved towards Moscow, making Putin flee and ask for a deal. - Despite all the bravado and megalomanic plans, after 19 months of a full-scale war, Russia occupies 18% of Ukraine's territory (including Donbas and Crimea seized in 2014), and it has lost some 50% of the Ukrainian territory seized after February 24, 2022.Unleashed the biggest European war since WWII due to "the NATO threat" in Ukraine but couldn't care less about Finland and Sweden joining the alliance - it's all just fine. - Saw Ukrainian drone strikes on the Kremlin and Moscow becoming a new normal. - Had Ukrainian-backed Russian armed nationalist groups crossing the border, capturing Russian towns, killing Russian troops, and leaving unpunished. - Annexed entire Ukrainian regions it did not even fully control by simply formally declaring them Russian regions and having a gala concert at the Red Square. And left Kherson a month later. - After a year of the war, lost at least as many troops as the U.S. had lost within a decade in Vietnam, making this the deadliest Russian war since WWII. - Saw Putin break his word and assassinate the "private military company's" chiefs after they had stupidly believed they could have a deal with Putin. - Committed atrocities in Bucha, Izium, and Mariupol, with mass graves, acts of torture, and executions seen in those lands for the first time since the Nazi occupation and called this "liberation". - Saw The Hague court issue an arrest warrant for Putin on charges of war crimes. - Had to leave Snake Island and then relocate its Black Sea fleet from Crimea to mainland Russia due to devastating Ukrainian attacks, effectively giving up on its control over the northwest Black Sea -- to a nation that has no navy. - Easily exchanged the Mariupol garrison leaders, including insanely demonized Azov Regiment commanders, for no one but Viktor Medvedchuk -- and continued listening to his cool stories about Ukraine. - Triggered the worst man-made disaster since the Chornobyl blast, the Kakhovka dam destruction, leaving swathes of Ukrainian land flooded, including Russia's own military facilities on the Dnipro River banks. - Had its strategic bombers and transport aircraft destroyed on the ground by Ukraine at airfields hundreds of kilometers deep inside Russian territory.

Prior to the 2022 invasion, Russia got Ukraine semi-surrounded with the largest military force seen in the region since the peak of the Cold War -- and then declared that Ukraine SUDDENLY decided to attack Russia and "the Russian people in Donbas." What a coincidence! - Saw its much-advertised winter 2023 offensive (for the sake of which it had launched a large-scale mobilization) fail without any substantial progress. - Made its online bootlickers act as if it's actually Ukraine that has failed with its 20-month blitzkrieg into Russia -- not kinda the other way around. - Had this insanely hyped-up General Armageddon, the hammer of the Ukrainian doomsday who ended up only ceding Kherson, being discharged two months after and exiled following the Wagner coup. - Still struggles to choose a certain end goal for its "special military operation" -- be it "de-militarization and de-Nazification of Ukraine," or "the fight against Satanism and the collective West," or "the protection of the people of Donbas," or "saving Russia and its civilization from losing its sovereignty and collapsing." - During the disastrous withdrawal from Kharkiv, abandoned for Ukraine an amount of munitions and military hardware comparable to the entire Western supply by that moment. - Rendered Donbas largely uninhabitable. - Ruined the region's once-gigantic industrial base. - Made millions flee in terror. - Slaughtered tens of thousands of able-bodied Donbas males forcibly mobilized and then used as cannon fodder in meat grinder assaults. - Leveled entire cities to ashes, with those cities very unlikely to be ever revived due to astronomical amounts of resources required and due to almost complete depopulation. - And then proudly installed its flag over the lifeless ruins and called this "de-Nazification."

P.S. Those who knowingly endorse all those things that Russia did to Ukraine should quit calling themselves sane human beings. Support my work here: https://buymeacoffee.com/saintanger

If there is one thing  I constantly question in life is truth and honesty.    Is what I see, read and write  true or false and is in the best interests of humankind.    That is why I do not support wars and oppression of people.

The Ukraine saga is one example of such.   When I was in England in 2005 I stayed with my nephew in Essex and went with them to a Church  Service of the DRC.   They were collecting boxes to send to Children in Ukraine and I went to a shop and bought products I could send 3 boxes.    My sympathy was always with the people of Ukraine.

I was horrified by what happened in Ukraine in February 2022 and was the first person on site to call for a peaceful solution and then start to discover what really happened n Ukraine.   I initially blamed the Russians for attacking Ukraine and started studying  what really happened and why it happened and was horrified by what came out of the woodwork as to what really happened and who caused the war in the first instance.

It all goes back to the Ukraine Maidan protests of 2014.   I sided with the protestors and felt they had the right to protest.    However, there was something  amiss ad I started reading up on the protests and what the result was of  it.    It turned up that -

*    the CIA was funding and organizing  the protests; and

*    that the US State Department decided on a replacement Government membership to take over the Government in Kiev, resulting in

*    a civil war in Eastern Ukraine that continued since 2014 and let to the deaths of 18 thousand of civilians in the Donbas Region Eastern Ukraine.

I found that there were a conference held in Minsk in 2015 organized by the French  and attended by the German and French Government leaders and the presidents of Ukraine and Russia - as well as the representatives of the Eastern Ukraine civil war leaders.    In the end the Minsk agreement was signed by all parties concerned and submitted to the UN Security Council for ratification.   It was accepted - but never implemented.

The USA Government never even submitted it to Congress and started pumping billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine.    In the meantime the Ukraine Government forces recaptured Mariopol and Odessa from the rebels in 2015 using  in the main the Asov Battalion - a private army using Nazi German insignia attnach ed to elements of the new Government instituted by the USA Government.    In 2015 there were massacre of thousands of people in the 2 cities by the Asov Battalion - which was reported to the UN and the Battalion was listed as a mercenary and terrorist organization by the UN.

What was even worse was that Ukraine was getting billions of dollars in aid from the US Government  and U S politicians like Biden, Pelosi, Schiff and Clinton, as well as others got kickbacks from Ukraine companies benefitting  from the aid programs.   I found written proof of that in documentation.

Trump tried to arm the Ukraine army to balance in the powers to keep the peace - but that did not help either.    When he found out that foreign aid was abused by kickback operations he stopped all foreign aid grants to countries that were openly looted - he stopped all Grants  applicable of a variety of countries and stopped the payments in cash of grants until the State and  Finance Departments to submit methods that would cut out corruption involving both politicians and bureaucrats in getting kickbacks from by countries benefitting from Grants.    Trump also made enquiries from the new Ukraine President on two issues - namely the involvement of Joe Biden and his son Hunter in Ukraine corruption    He also asked about a Ukraine Company owning  Crowdstrike by the DNC in the 2016 election.   Any real investigation would expose Pelosi, Schiff and Clinton in corruption in Ukraine as well an Pelosi and Schiff was center of the move to charge Trump with impeachment.

The other part of the situation was in Ukraine itself happened in 2019 when Zelenskyy campaigned in the election promising  the  voters in Ukraine he would settle the Ukraine civil war in Eastern Ukraine  by peaceful means through negotiation and won the election on that basis.    However, the USA Government change in 2021 was the final straw that broke the back of anything peaceful in Ukraine and even further negotiations.    The US Government even sabotaged the efforts of

*   Macron in January-February 2022 to prevent the Ukraine War and both  the Presidents of Ukraine and Russia signed a new ageement to implement the Minsk agreement of 2015; and

*    the Turkish  Government to stop the war by a ceasefire agreement.

The USA Government was since 2015 the decision-maker in everything pertaining to Ukraine through billions of grant funding and in fact since the Ukraine War broke out is funding the full budget of the Ukraine Government.

In essence the US Government through their actions forced the Ukraine Government to break agreements that could solve he issues of Ukraine peacefully and hey openly promote a war against Russia.in the belief that it would cause the collapse of the Russian Government  since the Russian army is weak and poorly equipped and Ukraine will win the war.

All the BS would have stopped in 2015 with  Ukraine getting  a new Constitution after the USA Government caused the 1991 constitution of Ukraine to be thrown into the dustbin and the country is now run as a dictatorship.

I still want to see a peaceful solution in Ukraine - but the USA Government propaganda is endemic and is stopping  all possibilities of a peaceful settlement.    There is not a single posting made by some site members that promote peace - they all promote war based on propaganda.

If you really believe in truth and peace you would do well in not repeating  lies and propaganda BS on site.   SH AME ON YOU.       .                         .                      .      .

I never got anything - I studied hundreds of documents and they showed that the USA conduct under Biden is disgraceful. and a crime against humanity.     All  you came up to proof your statements were straight from the Wall Street Journal articles talking BS all the time and full of total BS and factual errors.    You al;so produced evidence from a  mythical  source about non-existent peace talks in Belarus,- while spreading  lies in the Turkish initiated peace talks - which th e US Government sabotaged as well by instructing the Ukraine Foreign Affairs Minister to  withdraw from the negotiations.   You bas the reason for withdrawal the Doha maassacre which occurred and was discoive4red a week after the Russians withdrew from Ukraine  - a condition set by Ukraine to start negotiations.   So after the Russians fully withdrew from Ukraine there would be no negotiations.    The negotiations started 14 days after the withdrawal was finalized - that was fourteen days after withdrawal.     So your myth of the alleged massacre  being  th reason for withdrawal of the Ukraine Foreign Minister is total BS.

In other words the Doha massacre was spread in the west before the negotiations started and your BS that negotiations ended because of the alleged massacre.    It is that type of BS spreading that make your contributions on the level of brainwashed idiocy.    Goebbels would have been proud of you when it comes  propaganda BS  spreading.

Sorry - thank for correcting me about Bucha.   The allegations were never investigated because most likely it was Ukraine propaganda.   It had no bearing at all on the termination of the Turkey negotiations taking place since it haappened weeks before the negotiation in Turkey started,

You have never produced any evidence contradicting what I wrote with written pn site.

The Bucha massacre

According to local authorities, 458 bodies have been recovered from the town, including nine children under the age of 18; among the victims, 419 people were killed with weapons and 39 appeared to have died of natural causes, possibly related to the occupation.[1][18] The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights documented the unlawful killings, including summary executions, of at least 73 civilians in Bucha.[19][3] Photos showed corpses of civilians, lined up with their hands bound behind their backs, shot at close range.[20] An inquiry by Radio Free Europe reported the use of a basement beneath a campground as a torture chamber.[21][22] Many bodies were found mutilated and burnt,[23][24] and girls as young as fourteen reported being raped by Russian soldiers.[23][25] In intercepted conversations, Russian soldiers referred to these operations involving hunting down people in lists, filtration, torture, and execution as zachistka ("cleansing").[26] Ukraine has asked the International Criminal Court to investigate what happened in Bucha as part of its ongoing investigation of the invasion to determine whether a series of Russian war crimes or crimes against humanity were committed.[27][28]

So why was the investigatiion by the UN of the incident aborted?   Because there were no proven evidence of Russian involvement in the massacre.

However, that is not the issue here.   You claimed that the reason for the breakdown in the Turkish Peace Initiative was caused by discovery of the  Bucha Massacre - which  was total BS.   The Turkish Government claimed that the talk breakdown took place n instruction from Washington.

The people are becoming increasingly unhappy with Biden's conduct in respect of  Ukraine.   A t the time when Biden is struggling to get fund allocation approval from the House - 18 months after the Turkish negotiations the Wall  Street Journal came up with the  horror story.   Wh y now af ter 20 months af ter the talks collapsed.    Well it was supposed to help Biden in trying to convince the house to approve funding for Ukraine

There is another issue as well,    In 2015 the private army of the  Oligarg who employed Zelenskyy at the time was known as the Asov Battalion.   There were two incidents of Masscres of people in Mariopol - where the battallion used woman and children as shield when they attacked the city - death toll as a result 1500 civillians.   In Odessa there the workers union was protesting about labour issues.   The protestors concentrate in a smallish areas near the Trade Union headquarters.  TNhe A sov battallion started firing  at the protestors and they fled into the Union hall - a timber structure,    the Asov Battalion put the timber buiklding  on fire  and shor and killed people trying  to flee from the burning building .    Death toll 1 200 dead bodies.

Based on ample evidence te UN registered the battalion as a terrorist an d mercenary organization.     That meant the US could not provide weaponry to the battalion  so the easy solution was found - they were absorbed into th e Ukraine army.    The USA actually asked that the Nazi Insignia used by the4 battalion shouild be abandoned - but it was not.

I regards  the Bucha Incident as terrible and a full scale investigation by a neutral body is essential  - do you condone the actions of the Aov battalion as outlined above.an accepted by the UN in the same light.         .       .     .      ..

Clapper, the Wall Street Journal is a constant critic of Biden….you are flailing around in the dark.

As for Mariupol this is the massacre you should be talking about:

‘ On 11 April, Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko stated that over 10,000 civilians had died in the Russian siege of Mariupol. On 12 April, city officials reported that up to 20,000 civilians had been killed. On the same day, the Mayor of the city reported that about 21,000 civilians had been killed.

Putin’s Mariupol Massacre is one of the 21st century’s worst war crimes

https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainealert/putins-mariupol-massacre-is-one-the-worst-war-crimes-of-the-21st-century/

By Paul Niland
The Battle of Mariupol is over and Russia is busy proclaiming the liberation of the city. In reality, Mariupol has been murdered. This formerly bustling metropolis of almost half a million people now lies on the brink of extinction, pummeled into submission by a vicious campaign of Russian annihilation. The estimated 100,000 remaining residents of Mariupol find themselves reduced to living among the rubble without medicines, running water or electricity.https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/ukrainealert/putins-mariupol-massacre-is-one-the-worst-war-crimes-of-the-21st-century/With Russia in control of the city, there is no way of knowing the final death toll or assessing the true scale of the catastrophe that has befallen Mariupol. During the final weeks of the fighting, Mariupol Mayor Vadim Boychenko estimated more than 20,000 civilians had been killed and noted that this was twice the number of deaths recorded in the entire two-year Nazi occupation of the city during WWII. “Putin is a bigger evil than Hitler and we must stop him,” commented Boychenko.

Global audiences have grown used to the apocalyptic scenes in Mariupol and are no longer shocked by the destruction of an entire city. In order to grasp the full extent of Putin’s crime, it is vital to remember Mariupol as it was before the outbreak of war.

Mariupol was always a special city with a diverse population included a large ethnic Greek community. Located on the Azov Sea in southern Ukraine, it was warm and sunny for most of the year. Though the air was thick from the heavy industry located in the heart of Mariupol, local residents tended to be proud of their city and fiercely loyal.

War first came to Mariupol in spring 2014 when Moscow attempted to seize control of the surrounding Donbas region during the initial stages of the ongoing eight-year conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The city was taken over by Russian forces but this occupation proved mercifully brief.

Following liberation, Mariupol gained in significance as the largest city in the Donbas still under Ukrainian control. Located just a few kilometers from the front lines of the simmering conflict with Russia, it became an administrative and economic focus as well as a showcase for the higher living standards and greater personal freedoms offered by Ukraine.

While regions of eastern Ukraine under Russian occupation withered and stagnated, Mariupol flourished. This city was a mirror providing a stark contrast to the atrophy of the Russian-controlled parts of the Donbas. After 2014, Mariupol welcomed a shiny new office of government interaction where people could go to marry and register births without the suffocating and corrupt old-style bureaucracy that Ukraine used to be famed for. Hipster cafes and bars popped up across town, along with sleek co-working spaces and IT hubs. A new highway linked the city to neighboring regions in southern Ukraine.

Mariupol was also a beneficiary of Ukraine’s successful decentralization reforms. The move towards giving local communities more say over how they live their lives and spend their budgets created genuine political competition between people who wanted to serve their communities and not just plunder them. This was strikingly different to the authoritarian model of paternalism promoted in Russia and Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine.

hough almost every single building in Mariupol has now been razed to the ground, it is the people who really matter. The personal stories of Mariupol residents deserve to be heard.

By chance, I recently met some refugees who had made it out of the city. Together with a friend, we helped a family of three during the very last stage of their 1200km journey to temporary shelter in western Ukraine. The mother explained how she had escaped Mariupol with her 12-year-old daughter and 11-year-old son. They had made their way across Ukraine together, carrying their few most precious possessions with them including religious icons and a favorite teddy bear.

These survivors used the single word “hell” when attempting to describe what they had lived through in Mariupol. Once they had arrived at their accommodation and completed the check-in process, the mother came to the realization that she had finally brought her children to safety. Overcome with emotion, she let a few tears go before composing herself again. Similar scenes have been repeated countless times over the past few months. This is happening in Europe in 2022.

Those who made it out of Mariupol safely have wept tears of relief for their survival and tears of grief for those they left behind. They are also mourning the death of their hometown. The Mariupol you now see on your TV screens is a crime scene where tens of thousands of civilian lives have been extinguished.

This is not the Mariupol that survivors remember. Their memories are of a beautiful and vibrant place with a strong sense of community where families worked hard to build their dreams. As the location of one of the largest steelworks in Europe, the city was home to some very hard people who routinely did dangerous work and deserved to be respected. This traditional toughness was one of the reasons why Mariupol was defended so valiantly, despite the Russian terror unleashed upon it.

The Kremlin propaganda machine is now attempting to portray the destruction of Mariupol as a Russian victory. Instead, the long defense of Mariupol against overwhelming odds should be remembered as a powerful example of the Ukrainian heroism that has captured the world’s imagination.

The Ukrainian troops who held the vast Azovstal industrial complex for months did so knowing that they faced almost certain death or captivity. They fought on anyway, safe in the knowledge that their stand was pinning down whole units of the Russian army which would otherwise be unleashed elsewhere in Ukraine.

Mariupol must also be remembered as one of the worst crimes against humanity of the twenty-first century. The atrocities committed by Russian troops throughout Ukraine have horrified global audiences and have sparked an international war crimes investigation along with accusations of genocide. Even in this grim context, Mariupol stands out. Putin ordered the destruction of the city despite knowing hundreds of thousands of civilians

were unable to flee.

The calculated nature of the onslaught was most immediately apparent in the targeted bombing of Mariupol Drama Theater, which was being used as a makeshift shelter by over 1,000 civilians. Despite large lettering placed on the ground outside the theater spelling out the word “CHILDREN,” Russia hit the building with a devastating and deliberate blast. Current estimates indicate that around 600 civilians were killed in that one attack alone.

Mariupol was destroyed in order to send a chilling message to all Ukrainians of the fate awaiting anyone who refuses Putin’s invitation to join the so-called “Russian World.” The fact that Mariupol was an overwhelmingly Russian-speaking city that had traditionally backed pro-Kremlin political forces only appears to have hardened Putin’s resolve to punish the city for its defiance.

After Mariupol, there can be no more illusions regarding the possibility of a compromise peace with Putin. A city that was once marked by the smells of heavy industry and seaside breezes is now enveloped in the stench of decomposing bodies trapped beneath the rubble. Unless Putin is decisively defeated, more towns and cities across Ukraine will suffer the same fate. The next city in line for such devastation is Severodonetsk in Luhansk Oblast. Others will surely follow. After Mariupol, no European leader can claim they were not forewarned.
