However the stats is really meaningless since the deaths stats in some countries are unreliable and the issue is that the virus  largely was the final straw causing the deaths of people already suffering from morbidities that would have caused their deaths anyway,

Yes interesting changes with excess deaths now trailing reported deaths....but even this doesn’t capture the full picture. Covid is a killer of those who are at great risk of dying.....unlike the Spanish flu. As this thing is brought under control the pull forward effect will result in excess deaths turning negative. 

When we are 4 years out and look at excess deaths over the whole period since Covid I think they will be close to zero. Unlike the Spanish flu or the Hong Kong flu that left a permanent one time  upward displacement in excess deaths.
