Farage Backs Trump’s Wall: ‘I Wish Europe Had Done This Years Ago’

Brexit campaign leader Nigel Farage has backed U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to win funding for a southern border wall, highlighting the bitter experience of open borders in Europe during the migrant crisis.

The U.S. government is currently experiencing a shutdown as Congress refuses to release funding for a physical barrier, with President Trump using a televised address to make the case for serious border security so American citizens are no longer “horribly victimised” by the drug-traffickers, cartel members, and convicted killers who are taking advantage of the porous frontier with Mexico.

“The primary duty of any government is to look after the integrity of the nation an to protect its own citizens,” Farage agreed in a Fox News interview.

“In Europe, we kind of surrendered that principle… we had an area of complete Free Movement without anybody being checked, and we also allowed anybody that came in across the Mediterranean and set foot on European soil to claim they were a refugee,” he recalled.

“The reality, of course, is that hardly any of them would have qualified as refugees; it was people seeking their own economic advantage — and mixed in with it there was too many people who’ve gone on to commit crimes and even terrorist acts,” he stated bluntly.

The former UKIP supremo told the broadcaster that he believed the President had looked across the Atlantic and “seen the social change in Germany, in Sweden, the rising crime, the growing anger of the European electorates that their governments are not putting their own interests first” and concluded “we’re going to learn from Europe, even if the Democrats have got their head in the sand.”

Mr Farage suggested the debate around border security had been debased by the application of the word “refugee” to anyone attempting a difficult journey to another country — as is currently happening in the United Kingdom, for example, where hundreds of migrants travelling from France to the United Kingdom by sea in small boats are typically characterised as “desperate” refugees.

“Gosh, I wish across Europe we’d done this a few years ago,” the British MEP concluded, warning American viewers: “Please do not make the same mistakes that we’ve made.”

Passage through the world’s busiest shipping lane in small boats is certainly perilous, but the migrants are not, as Farage put it, “people in fear of their lives because of their race, their religion, or their political [beliefs]” but opportunists attempting to migrate from one advanced, first world economy to another — and therefore not true refugees.

One only has to look at how many migrants are caught every single day, trying to get in...…...to realize just how many are actually getting through, and not getting caught.

Idiots like Piss Mint fail to see the bigger picture, they will just look at ways to lambaste Trump for wanting the wall, maybe Piss Mint himself would feel differently if he was either affected by crime in the US or lived near this border.

As I said in another thread, Piss Mint's complete and utter dislike of Trump prevents him from saying anything even remotely positive about anything at all that Trump has done since becoming president.

That says so much more to me  about Piss Mint, than it does about Trump

I think the idea of open borders are seriously defective and that the counties trying to defend their culture and the employment opportunities of existing locals are correct in trying to stop  the influx.

Fact is open borders will cause major problems in future,   Most of the violence in Paris by the Yellow Vest protestors in Paris were by African and  Muslim migrants who were trying to protect their own jobs, were too lowly paid to make a decent living or were unemployed.   New migrants threaten them even more than they threaten the livelihoods of other locals,

In California there are over 10 million people from south of the border - most of them illegals - who are the voting fodder of the Democratic Party and used by them to win elections.   When employed they are mostly lowly paid and cash paid employees - not covered in the taxation system.   They take away jobs from other locals and can only cause serious problems.- not only in the labour market but also in the education and health system.

It is in fact evident that there are other factors at play as well - the 78 year old Nancy Pelosi - is one of the richest members of Congress and one wonders how she got that wealthy.   Did she use cheap labour to get that wealthy?   In any event making her Speaker  will cost the DP votes in 2020 and  badly so.

I think that there is going to be an ever-increasing tendency in the world today and that can have serious consequences in future,   The rightwing parties in Europe are feeling more akin to Russia than they feel to the EU and  the USA under the Democrats.    Fact is that could result in a total re-organization of political alliances in future - something feared by the US Democats and the EU - who wants to create their own European army to defend them against what?

The liberals and leftists are extremely worried about the future and hence their desperate fight using all possible methods to defend themselves and the systems they have created,   They control the media and are using the same totally for the purpose.   If they think they can control the populace by that they may miss the boat completely.

The next challenge will be the EU Parliamentary elections in May 2019.   Will the present majority of center-leftists retain control and will Germany remain the real controllers of the EU? Indications are they will lose control because half of the leftist governing parties in Europe have either lost control already or are leaking support in countries.   Even in Germany the rightwing party has caused havoc for the present coalition government and the rightwingers in Merkel's party may bolt from their present party,   After all Merkel has already been replaced as Party leader and may soon be shown the door.

Read what I said about Nancy Pelosi above - she is not the angel you may think she is.    She si way past her sell-by date and cost the Democratic Party massive votes when she was Speaker before and they lost control of the Congress,

The DP made a mistake when electing her as Speaker - it will cost them the Congress in 2020.   She is not "clean" and the US voters knows that,    Has she in fact control of the Congress - there are too many of her own party who distrust her and she is bound to lose control in the case of voting in the House of Representatives,

Bad news to hold her up as flag bearer of the DP - it will not work in the long run.

Ou Maaik, what makes you think that I think Nancy Pelosi is an "angel"?
Angel or not, she sure has got Bozo's number.
