From the troposphere....some comfort on Climate Change

The most accurate read we have on temperatures comes from the troposphere....no heat island bias or measurement site manipulation. And the news remains benign. The regression analysis from 1980 to the present shows an increase 0.13 degrees C every decade. Or 1.3 degrees in a 100 years....hard to separate from the underlying temperature increases since the Little Ice Age, which are natural and probably still happening. But for those who still worry about Carbon, a private company funded by Bill Gates may have the answer. They now believe they can separate carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, subject to the process scaling up. If that happens as expected.....carbon dioxide can be extracted at $100 per ton, well below the $600 per ton previously believed. If this all works, Carbon dioxide emissions can be eliminated for 3% of GNP and no changes in our current habits will be required. Even better news is the process allows for safe storage of the gas, or conversion to a low emission fuel. We get access to the energy again. The doom and gloom predictions assumed no human ingenuity.

Global cooling is a real possibility depending on the sun going into a low phase as predicted by some solar scientists. Amazingly the sun never enters the debate.
