Probably the best known South African….Gary says the world should thank America for all it has done to make life better.  Old school stuff from the Black Knight who says he wants to live to 100.

I remember I was once in an event where Gary played a couple of holes with each group. I was in a bunker and aware I was with the greatest bunker player in the game. I  managed to chunk  the ball about 3 feet away. The group said something like good shot.

Gary responded ‘do you think that’s good’? Hopped into the bunker and put it 6 inches away.

Sometimes people over here don’t get that competitive sense of humor. But it’s all in fun. And Gary would be a a strong candidate for our best sportsman of all time.

Then he, Jack and Tom Watson kick off the Masters…..one of the great moments in the sporting year. And I’d have to say Gary’s swing is much more fluid than Jack…not much less fluid than Watson who is 20 odd years younger.

Gary Player was a great golfer but a self-important and two-faced plonker.

He embraced apartheid and was very outspoken in his support for the Nat government right up until they got booted out and then suddenly he was a big fan of the ANC, saying apartheid was always wrong. He's basically the ou Maaik of golf.

Can't stand him.

America is no longer the shining beacon of democracy.

It is now run by a cabal of 500 people who own nearly all of the wealth- by being the main shareholders of the main companies.

Monopolies and price-fixing oligopolies are the order of the day.
Then ship local jobs overseas to countries with the weakest currencies.

Great for the stock market, but bad for most people.
