George Will: Trump’s victory continues GOP’s 'eight years of self-degradation'

Conservative Washington Post columnist George Will has been a scathing critic of President-Elect Donald Trump and the MAGA movement's influence on the Republican Party.

In his November 6 column, Will argues that Trump's victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election continues the "eight years of self-degradation" the GOP has suffered thanks to Trump.

"Conducting a thorough autopsy on the cadaver of Kamala Harris' campaign will require the scalpel of voting data not yet sharpened," Will argues. "Two things, however, are obvious. Democrats should have remembered the ancient axiom 'be careful what you wish for.' And they should have remembered the warning attributed to their hero Franklin D. Roosevelt regarding Gen. Douglas MacArthur: 'Never underestimate a man who overestimates himself.'"

Will is not only critical of Trump and the MAGA movement — he is also critical of the Harris campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC), accusing them of "self-sabotage."

"A wit once asked, can the phrase 'insipid beyond words' be applied to words?" Will writes. "Harris segued from vapidity ('joy!') to hysteria ('fascism!'), from Beethoven ('Ode to Joy,' without the music) to Wagner ('Götterdämmerung,' staged for swing states). She mocked Trump for being such a feeble president that he could not even build his border wall. Simultaneously, she intimated that in a second term, the triumph of his Hitlerian will would steamroller America's democratic institutions. Perhaps voters detected a contradiction."

Will, now 83, isn't optimistic about the next four years.

"It has been said that the future is a mirror without glass in it," the conservative columnist writes. "But Trump's scatterbrained approach to almost everything makes it likely that he will fail to do much of what he has vowed to do. Then, in 2028, Americans get to do this again. That is the good and bad news."

Bullshit by lorry load.    There are still some Republicans who beleive that te elite should govern he counry and bugger he working and middle class people,     The have more in common wih the Democrats elitists than they have wih the voters,

The latter makes up 72% of te vters adn the Democratss and the Pary elite of the Republicans have eglcted them and they took heir revenge on the elitists.   That hurts peple like Will - who now turns into politics to attack the working  class voters who urned on the Democrats..    I his ricle he referred to Roosevellt ht would never have supported the ultra-leftist BS  that is  now the centerpoint of the  Democratic Party ideology..

Since he Clinton's got on board followed by Bush Junior - now best friiends with Obama    Obama and now Biden turnd the  USA into a corrupt disaster situation that caused the worjkers to be 30% poorer than hey were when Reagan was President.    Smebody needed to restore proper and honest Governanace in the USA and that is the eeend o teh story.

Trump and people like Robert Kennedy Junior and Gbbard amonmgst many ohers have realized that the Democratic Party has turned rogue and that si why they organized and the elititsts hate it,

Trump’s victory over Harris was the American people deciding despite his flaws he is a safer pair of hands than Kamala Harris who would struggle to run the local McDonalds and her agenda which is way too radical.

All these vows to resist his Presidency by governors and other Democratic politicians are in effect anti Democracy.

All these vows to resist his Presidency by governors and other Democratic politicians is in effect anti Democracy.

A bit rich of accusing Democrats of being anti-democracy after Trump didn't recognize the result of the 2020 election.

Tell me have these governors and democratic politicians vowed to resist Trump's Presidency using illegal methods?

Have governors or other republican politicians never vowed to resist the policies of a Democratic President in the past?

Defnding  Democracy is a farce when it comes to the Biden regime.   They seta orrible example of being udemocratiic and dictatorial over he last four years - so take a lok at he following:-

*    Biden called all opes "White Domestic Terrorists"  and as a result of protests about child pronography in school libraries and interfernece in parns rights a guardians  of heir children - parens wn to sschool bard metings o proest against abuses by the Edation Department,   Ia snot only White Paennts who atended teemetings - there were also Hispanic and Black Prents who atended school boad meetings.    Other opponens against abortios came from the Catholic Church,  So what did the Biden WH do?   They wrioe a letter to Biden signed by the Chairman of the School Board Association accusing the aprents wh atended of being White Domestic terrrists,   There were n vilence at such meetings and Garland insructed the FBI o ivsstigate oppoents to the Biden Regime.   It came out in the FIS Court thatthe FBI investigated ad illegally 278 000 illegally and uncosntittionally.

*     The Biden dministration developed a sysem of laying ake charges against thosands of opponens of he Biden regime.   The media .screamed about charges against Trump - but that was just the tips of the Iceberg.      Rgese charges were all cotrolled from he WH and from the Justice Department.      There were thousands f charges laid and most people were foud inncent of the charges against them - while in major appeals cases the cours rule that most of the cases were farfethced and rejected by higher courts on apeal.  In any event the crges against Tump was farcical and would nefver be upheld by Fderal Courts or he Supreme Court,

*      In 2020 the DNC and the Biden Regime organized and unded  riots in US inner cities in which 46 people were murdered by rioes  using foe-arms and Molotov cacktails providd o them on an organized basis - ere were 1 200 police officers seriosuly injured by he rioters and some would never recover from their wouds,  nd arson and lootig caused damages of over $5 billion.  Since the riots were organized and funded by he DNC using he BLM and Anitifa for the purpose - Biden orderd  the release of 1 500 held in jail to ace charges,   In that group were icluded murdereers as well.   The Democratin Party controlled House refused to  investigate the riots - because he ties o funding of the riots by the DNC would have been exposed.

*     The WH using the FBI and CIA to liase on a weekly basis  with the Iernet plaforms and firendly media to censor new that would lead o criticism of the regime..   That is Unconstitutional and a method usedd in banan republic dictaorships.   The House conducted an investigation  and found that it was abusig free speech and entail unconsttutinal  coduct by the Regimes

I love your comments of Roosevelt made in an era when the Democrat support base was the working class and when  an entirely diferent approach of he DP was in charge -he Party was a centrist party with rather cosnervatie beliefs.   That changed entirely since 1992 when sccessive Presidecny abused the rights and privileges of the working class and they are in 2024 finanically 40% worse off than they were in 1992.   Even Bernie  Sandes said he Democratic Pay abandoned the working class  in facvor of ulta-left policies favored by the elite.   It was the working class that took their revenge on a party that abandonmed them over rhe years/

The Democrats are always pointig fingurs at ohers.   In a New York Times te pape said that Trump would commit 8 dictatroial actions.   hena alyzing heir commentss and bearing in mind what happened under Biden - the regime was alredy involved in 6 of the 8 charges the NYT said Trump would use. hen set agaist the criminal cnduct the Regime of Biden a invovled in.                                   .
