Honest question

Here, on our very own doorstep, we have the head of infectious diseases and HIV medicine at Groote Schuur hospital, making a statement to the press, confirming the efficiency and effectiveness of having the jab, and that he has not yet seen one single vaccinated person on his high care ward.

Now I myself am a serious doubter, and always have been, with issues like this, and I doubt that will change anytime soon.....but as I already mentioned in another post, I very reluctantly took the jab, only because I did not want to regret not doing it, in case I did contract Covid... and I also did it mainly because I personally had first eye witness accounts of what Covid did to far too many of my friends and their families, including losing some of them in such a short space of time.

He states that it actually takes a minimum of 21 days after having the vaccine, to have the best chances of not being admitted to hospital for serious complications from Covid.

The question to the rest of the doubters like me is, why would this guy, like so many other reputable professionals, put their reputations on the line, to ill advise people to get the vaccine....

He's not ill advising...the jab works more or less as intended, the immediate side effects are within the parameters of acceptability. 

 Unfortunately,  nobody can know the unintended long term negative side effects of the vaccines...there is simply not enough data yet...hopefully it will remain relatively safe, but mRNA is not nearly an exact science yet...

Is there anything to suggest there could be long term negative side effects?

I don't believe there has been a situation in the past where vaccine side effects only showed up years after the vaccine was administered.

Cognitive bias at play. People choose what they want to believe and then go looking for anything that backs that up and ignores any information to the contrary. They won't believe the doctors on the frontline dealing with this day in and day out, but they'll believe any doctor on Youtube that says the vax will lead to mass genocide.

Anyway I have been vaccinated  - so no comment on that one.    My only problem  is that the vaccination does not prevent somebody to get infected afterwards and spread the disease.    I hope they find one that does.

The present campaigns of  Governments and their actions are really problematic because they take decisions not based on science and that lead to further problems with a serious financial impact.             

I don't think a vaccine will become available that will stop transmission though vaccines do somewhat reduce it.

Many governments around the world have made decisions not based on science and that does lead to various problems, but I suspect you and I would disagree on what decisions where not based on science and what the resulting problems where.

Here in Ireland the Irish government mostly followed the science but have at times made decisions for political reasons, one of which was particularly disastrous around Christmas time. But they have following the scientific advise so stringently recently that NPHET (Nation Public Health Emergency Team) are being accused of actually running the country and not the government.

You are 100%  correct - at times made decisions for political reasons,    You can add to that fir corrupt reasons as well.   The latter  can be applied to SA  - but may be the case in other countries as well.

As to the USA - the New York Times and Washington Post - to papers slavishly loyal to the Democratic Party asked for the data pertaining  to the present outbreak on which the latest restrictions are based and got none in response.    But then  politicizing of Covid represents a huge  negative.   As a result about three weeks ago the government said no more masks and the people can return to their normal life.   Two weeks later masks are back and more restrictions implemented.

There is another problem - and a very real one - and that is the open border policy of Biden.   Since January an estimated 1,5 million illegal migrants entered the USA  - they come mainly from central countries in the  Americas - but there are migrants from other countries as well.   The main problem is that vaccination is virtually non-existent or barely existing in some  countries and when random  tests were done between 40 and 50% of the migrants were teted positive for covid.   The further problem is that the Government use military planes and  rented buses to transport migrants - inclusive of those who are positive - to cities throughout the USA  and it is done in secret.     Super spreading on a massive scale.  As I said in this case politics seems to have taken over totally.
