somer 39 years ago!

Take a look at this oaks.

Did Author Dean Koontz Predict ‘Coronavirus’ In 80’s Suspense Thriller? His book is flying off the shelves right now as people want to know if author Dean Koontz had an inside scoop on the dreaded ‘coronavirus’ that’s plaguing the country right now. Koontz book, “The Eyes of Darkness” mentions a deadly virus that Koontz called “Wuhan 400”. In his book published in 1981, he describes it as a “severe pneumonia-like illness” that spreads attacking “the lungs and bronchial tubes” and “resisting all known treatments.”

His description of the illness is eerily close to what we know now as ‘coronavirus.’ In his book, Koontz also goes on to say a Chinese scientist came to the U.S. with a disk that had China’s “most important and dangerous new biological weapon.” That weapon was called “Wuhan 400” — because it was developed in labs outside the city of Wuhan.

In the original version, the virus was named ‘Gorki-400’.

So you have the virus named via its location, it attacks the lungs etc and it appears in 2020. Very odd.

There has been similar recent claims made by scientists about the Biological warfare lab of China/  The initial disinformation spread by the Chinese let to suspicions as to the origin of the virus and to questions as to how the virus got out of the lab and the opinion was that an infected animals on which the virus was tested were sold to the public and thus took root amongst humans in Wuhan,

The Chinese  said that the virus originated from a "wet market" in Wuhan - bu t the only market in Wuhan is a  fish market and the doctors whom raised the alarm initially were arrested fir spreading false  rumours,   It is clear the Chinese knew something they did not want the rest of the world to be aware of.

Look up the Snopes article on it. Also, the page with the 2020 prediction is from a completely different book (End of Days: Predictions and Prophecies about the End of the World by the psychic Sylvia Browne published in 2008).

Ja, but in matters like these they can separate the fact from the fiction quite well. Anyway, the Koontz thing is a nice little novelty, but there's little comparison between corona and the Gorki-virus in his book. Browne's prediction is more noteworthy, even though it's one of her few hits among a string of misses.

HINI got 64 million media mention. Coronavirus has already got 1.1 billion. Swine flu was possibly more dangerous?

The hysterical media causes one to wonder. Panic could be the biggest threat some are saying.

Anyhow time will tell.

I also find it interesting there have been suggestions that this will end quickly.

I am not claiming anything here. Just noting some points of interest.

In October 2019 Gates and others did a virus epidemic simulation based on a Coronovirus type virus.

In 2014 Gates said the next big threat to humanity was not nuclear war but viruses.

Does anybody recall Gates saying the ideal world population was 500 million?

The author wrote this book in 1981. He named where the virus would start, its nature and the very year it would start.

That is weird but of course could just be amazing coincidence.

He named where the virus would start, its nature and the very year it would start.

Actually he did none of these things. His virus originally was Russian in origin and man-made with a 100% fatality rate: nothing that corresponds to the actual virus now. The year prediction does not come from his book either, as I explained above.

CNN’s dismissal of the book as a prediction. Some fair points, but the coincidence is remarkable, nor is the lab theory dead in the water as they claim. The theory that it was genetically engineered appears to have been debunked....there is no evidence of foreign DNA having been injected. But the theory of animal to human transmission within the lab environment remains plausible. Here’s the CNN extract :

In the screenshot page from the novel, a character named Dombey narrates a story about a Chinese scientist who brought a biological weapon called "Wuhan-400" to the United States:"To understand that," Dombey said, "you have to go back twenty months. It was around then that a Chinese scientist named Li Chen defected to the United States, carrying a diskette record of China's most important and dangerous new biological weapon in a decade. They call the stuff 'Wuhan-400' because it was developed at their RDNA labs outside the city of Wuhan, and it was the four-hundredth viable strain of man-made microorganisms created at that research center."First, it's worth pointing out that in the original 1981 edition of "The Eyes of Darkness," this biological weapon was called "Gorki-400," in reference to a Russian locality. The name of the weapon was changed to "Wuhan-400" when the book was released again in 1989, according to the South China Morning Post. It's true that the current coronavirus outbreak began in Wuhan, China. But the idea that the virus was created in a lab is actually a conspiracy theory that originated from unverified social media accounts and has since been widely dismissed by scientists from both China and the West.Experts are still trying to figure out the exact source of the virus, but research indicates that it likely originated in bats and was transmitted to an intermediate host before jumping to people -- just like its cousin that caused the 2003 SARS epidemic.

In the book, the virus has a 100% mortality rate

In a later paragraph, the character Dombey goes on to say that no one infected with virus survives: "And Wuhan-400 has other, equally important advantages over most biological agents. For one thing, you can become an infectious carrier only four hours after coming into contact with the virus. That's an incredibly short gestation period. Once infected, no one lives more than twenty-four hours. Most die in twelve. Wuhan-400's kill rate is one hundred percent."That's not the case with the coronavirus. First off, people infected by the coronavirus tend to develop symptoms about five days after exposure, and almost always within two weeks, according to a recent study.Secondly, the mortality rate for coronavirus is not even close to 100%.While the virus can be fatal, it's mostly the elderly and those with a weakened immune system or other health conditions who face more serious risks.
Officials estimate the death rate for the virus to be around 3% to 4% globally, based on the information they have, though they expect that number to fall.So while Koontz may be a captivating writer, he's no psychic

Predict enough things and you have to get something sort of right once in a blue moon.

There are millions of books/articles written set in the future or predicting things so somewhere there has to be what appears to be a coincidence

All this predicting the future is just a load of bollocks and why anyone takes one bit of notice of any of it amazes me.

They turn 11 in grade 5. My eldest is in Grade 8 (Standard 6, turns 13 in May), The babe is in Grade 2 and turns 8 in December. (He was born the day the world was supposed to end 20-12-2012)

We were only informed Friday and the other kids were at home last week. The incubation period for Swine Flu is only about 4 days, so we are probably in the clear...one poor kid spent 3 days in isolation in hospital.

There's a biological research facility in Wuhan. Koontz does thorough research for his books, so the location for the outbreak was probably chosen for that reason...funny then that the actual pandemic would start there then? What's the odds of that? Or was it the experts at the facility who spotted the difference from normal flu? Maybe the virus has been with us a bit longer, but we only realized it now? How can we be so sure?

PS, I have read quite a few of his books and prefer them to  Stephen King's...and I actually likes King's books too.
