On Monday Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, announced that the first trial vaccine for the coronavirus is now being tested.   The trial taking place in Seattle, which has been a hotbed for COVID-19. The test includes 45 people age 18-55 and they are receiving two injections, one at zero days, one at 28 days. The individuals will then be followed for one year.  The trial results is still months away.

On Monday night Laura Ingraham reported that a new study revealed the anti-viral medication chloroquine is successful in fighting the coronavirus.

Laura invited Dr. Gregory Rigano, the co-author of the study to discuss the latest findings.

Dr. Rigano said their study found that those COVID-19 patients who took hydroxy-chloroquine were found free of the disease in 6 days.  The patients were testing negative for the coronavirus in six days!  

Dr. Rigano also said taking choroquine could act as a preventative.

Yes one positive avenue.....this drug is mostly used for Malaria and has some side effects. It’s a prescription drug in the USA, but I notice  ‘entrepreneurs’ on eBay are trying to resell it.

The US has a very sophisticated medical system, with world experts in many spheres. But the initial advances in treating this disease may come from somewhere else.....India for example seems to be having some success with a drug cocktail. Australia has 50 hospitals using an AIDS drug.

Why? Because the US system is encumbered by many regulations and testing protocols. Break them at your legal peril. The US will get there, but on a slower path.

There are 16 countries with more than a 1000 cases.....those are 16 laboratories for finding ways to treat the disease.

Then another expert moans it isn’t available because it’s already been hoarded, overlooking the fact that it is proven safe for humans, and is already a generic drug that can be produced by any qualified manufacturer. 

Then some other experts pour scorn on it’s potential, but they haven’t done any studies. The French have and they think it shows a lot of effectiveness.

The FDA has issued a statement clarifying the chloroquine situation. Trump wrongly said the anti-malaria drug was approved for coronavirus. The FDA statement says there is no approved coronavirus treatment.

And chloroquine is being actively used in NY hospitals, with good results....one hospital has used it on over 100 patients with no deaths. So I suppose that good news has to be suppressed? What happened to transparency .....Oh I forgot it’s only bad when Trump is transparent.

We are dealing with small samples here, so we don’t know yet how effective it is. But surely the big point is we have something that appears to work.....let’s celebrate that.
