Some incredible footage from this Hurricane as the huge storm surge came ashore at Fort Myers. In a cruel twist Naples, where I have many friends, received a huge hit despite looking safe initially. A southward veer of the storm surprised the weathermen and saved Tampa from the worst of it. But it took the right side eye wall through Fort Myers and Naples.
This is one of nature’s huge shows….starting with a small disturbance off the African coast and a massive climax thousands of miles away. I’m still waiting to hear how much damage occurred in Sarasota where I have a flat, cars and a boat…we missed the water, but the wind was massive.
It’s hard to appreciate the strength of these winds, but I remember once taking the road past the cable station in CT with a huge South Easter pouring over the mountain, seemingly accelerated by the flow over the top. Getting out it was hard to stand….yesterday was twice that wind speed.
The sun is a huge engine and nature occasionally reminds us of our squatter status.|
