Mr Juncker was on a two-day tour speaking at two of Belgiums regional parliaments – Wallonia and Flemish.
The Commission President faced a more testing appearance at the more hostile Flemish institution, on Wednesday, May 9, compared to his Walloon experience the previous day.
Attempting to win over sceptical Flemish representatives, Mr Juncker said: “ I’m against the EU becoming a United States of Europe.

Given his chance to speak, Mr Van Grieken said: Mr Juncker, whenever the EU fails, your solution is more powers and more resources for the EU, at the expense of the sovereignty of the member states.
“More and more people are getting tied of the blind fight.”
