Donald Trump’s bad luck continues. On Thursday afternoon, Arthur Engoron, a Manhattan judge, gave the thumbs up to subpoenas issued to Trump, favorite child Ivanka, and Donald Trump Jr, by Tish James, New York’s attorney general. The court’s ruling follows a decision by Trump’s accountants to walk away from the one-term president and disavow years of financial statements issued by his company.

Much as the Trump trio tried, they could not shut down James’s investigation into the Trump Organization’s business practices, which could lead to a civil suit by James. Unlike a criminal prosecution, a civil action comes with a lower burden of proof for the government. At the same time, civil lawsuits can drag on – like right into 2024. Barring a stay, Trump and his two children have been ordered to appear at deposition within 21 days.

If they tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, who knows what liability may result? On the other hand, if they invoke their right to remain silent, they will likely be portrayed as criminals.

“You see, the mob takes the fifth,” Trump observed on the campaign trail in 2016. “If you’re innocent, why are you taking the fifth amendment?”

Time sure flies. And if the Trump family refuses to appear at deposition or simply stays mum when grilled, they risk being charged with contempt, a distinction presently held by Steve Bannon, Trump’s White House counselor and 2016 campaign guru.

At this moment, Trump must be sweating while his lenders have to be shaking their collective heads. How much is Trump worth and how bad can things get are no longer hypothetical issues. In the absence of operative financial statements, restructurings and bank-called defaults have spilled into the realm of the real.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

It's a coming...,.... but for the moment the thought of the obese classless grunt sitting behind bars warms the cockles of my heart.

Well pleased to read that President Trump and the NY DA legal battle has made your week-end.

Please keep us updated and keep sticking the needles into the pumpkin you have carved out for the events that are to follow.

He, He, Hubbly Bubbly toil and trouble!

The old witchcraft lament.

Remember what goes around comes around.

Denny

Don't be optimistic about this issue - it is a political issue - not a judicial one.   And the issue was not about appearing in court to give depositions - but responding to James allegations and questions.

There is a problem though - James is a Soros-funded DA  and in her election campaign she said she will get Trump out of the presidency and she will ensure that charges be laid to get him out.  So it is a political campaign - not a judicial one.   In the meantime she is doing a critically poor job with crime is skyrocketing in New York and she is largely responsible for criminals not being charged with criminal offences they committed.

The media is in fact using this as a  desperate effort to divert attention away from the Durham investigation - so there is near to zero change of any accusations being substantiated..

All this as the Durham investigation details the biggest political scandal of our lifetime. A literal uncovering of an enormous conspiracy. No comment on that, tante? Yeah…didn’t think so.

Quisling has only one set of filters through which he sees the whole world….race. A boring victim, who abandoned his own great fight.

Trump is a grifter that will go to his grave saying the election was stolen. Imagine every president did the same thing if/when they lost an election.

It is a good thing Trump never got another 4 years, as he would have installed puppets to replace capable people like Pence, or DOJ William Barr. Eventually, it would be a Russian style of government of yesmen dummies that only have the job because they will say yes.

His agenda is to destroy democracy in America, has conv erted the Republican Party into the Trump Party and will set things up for a family member to take over from him if he wins a second term. He is very comfortable with dictators like Putin, Duarte and Erdogan and without a doubt sees himself in an identical role as POTUS.

Actually you’re describing the current cabinet…..Harris, Yellen, Austin, Blinken etc. Certainly the weakest cabinet of the century so far.

You have it all wrong I am afraid - the real enemies of the US Constitution and Democracy are  Biden and the Democrats.   Their mandates have been thrown out by Courts all over the USA since they are unconstitutional.   There was not a single action of  Trump that was unconstitutional declared as such by any Court.   By the way every piece of legislation of the Democrats have been trimmed down to eliminate unconstitutional actions.

Trump never was comfortable  with Putin - that is false - he slapped sanctions on Russia, tore up the arms treaty because Russia was not honoring it.    Where the Erdogan story came from is weird,    Trump did not want wars all over the world and in the case of Erdogan he had to bear in mind that Turkey is part of NATO with the biggest of all individual army than any of the  NATO Members other than the USA. .   Putin knows that Trump would not tolerate any nonsense and he was careful in dealing with Trump - so did the other dictators.   They have no respect for Biden - he has been corrupted by all the dictators  and whatever he comes up with is ridiculed by them.    A typical example is North Korea.    As long as Trump was in charge their were no nuclear bomb  and  ballistic missiles tested by North Korea - now they are back doing tests.

The latest Putin narrative  is weird - there is and was zero chance of the  Russians attacking Ukraine.    The story was to try and bring Biden to the fore as a strong leader selling the narrative that Biden forced Putin not to attack Ukraine, but there  never was a chance of such an attack.

"Imagine every president did the same thing if/when they lost an election. "

Well the whole "Russian Hoax" was exactly the same thing, but they took it a few steps further by impeding Trump every way they could...including 2 BS attempts at impeachment....

It 's simple, look at the state of the world now and compare it to 2 years ago...start with fuel prices and then look at Afghanistan and Ukraine...then look at the world 2 years before trump. Look at fuel prices, Ukraine, Syria and Iraq...if you can't see the clear patern, you are beyond help.

Note how these numbskulls simply can’t bring themselves to comment on what seems for all the world to be treason and an attempted coup, perpetuated by Trump’s enemies. …and so their integrity, or lack thereof, is revealed. If you are that far from being able to objectively address an issue, how far are you from contemplating the motivations for what’s being investigated? That same lack of objectivity spares you from realising what a true waste of space you are. Unluckily, for current and future generations, there’ll always be fools like those on this thread.

Who really cares about Afghanistan? Only the rednecks because it gives them something to moan about. Something to blame their life on Biden for...

While it is tragic for the decent Afghans, the country is unfortunately filled with religious fanatics.
America and many of the Western countries want to remove armed forces from these countries anyway.

Biden never forced Putin to try invade Ukraine. The Western alliance has kept Putin in check for ages. It was Trump that took America away from the traditional power axis, which has emboldened dictators around the world.

The increased price of fuel is a concern, but I am not crying each time I go to the garage.

"Actually you’re describing the current cabinet…..Harris, Yellen, Austin, Blinken etc. Certainly the weakest cabinet of the century so far."

Out of the above group I'm only familiar with Blinken so I don't really know but I guess what you're really trying to say is that the Trump cabinet was better than the current one but then I have to question.....who was Trump's revolving door cabinet?.....  as for weakest cabinet of the century?....well that's debatable.

I also question your bias and prejudice but hey with respect each to his own opinion.

What is not questionable is that Trump is a sore loser and it's disgusting to see him still carrying on about being cheated......in your own words....."Eat your crow" ...remember?

And what's also not questionable is the shame he brought to Capitol Hill when he incited the deplorables to riot. Five innocent people died because of that disgusting act.

My opinion of him hasn't changed........I still find him repulsive.

One other thing....he is divisive......dangerously so......"Kill Pence" they screamed as they went on a r ampage through the building. One shudders to think what would have happened if they had found Mike Pence or Nancy Pelosi etc

Einde.

Maybe the Democrats should be honest and admit their criminality in using the Russian Collusion haox to u8ndrmine the Trump administration and stop their daily lies and distortions.  That Blinken lied in the Senate and so did Garland and Mayorkas - that is as  low as people can go.   No problem for Biden - he lies every time he opens his mouth.

Unlike attorney-client privilege, New York law does not recognize any claim of confidentiality between accountants and their clients.

On Monday, James made public a bombshell letter from Mazars dated Feb. 9 warning that 10 years of the “Statements of Financial Condition for Donald J. Trump” ending in June 2020 cannot be relied upon and saying it was parting ways with Trump. This is a stunning setback to the Trump company’s defense.

Meanwhile Manhattan seems conflicted….hahaha:

NEW YORK, Feb 23 (Reuters) - Two prosecutors who had been leading the Manhattan district attorney's criminal probe into former U.S. President Donald Trump and his business practices have resigned, the district attorney's office said on Wednesday.

The departures of Special Counsel Carey Dunne and Mark Pomerantz came less than two months after District Attorney Alvin Bragg assumed office, taking over a probe into Trump and his family business, the Trump Organization.

Report ad

"We are grateful for their service," said Danielle Filson, a spokeswoman for Bragg, referring to Dunne and Pomerantz. She added that the investigation was ongoing.

Bragg had indicated to the pair that he had doubts about pursuing a case against Trump, the New York Times said, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

Now we have the numbskulls at Trump because what he said after the 2020 election - but they are totally quiet about Clinton still repeating a lie and never recognizing that Trump won in 2016'

The Democrats concocted a story about  Russian Collusion with Trump - while the real collusion was between Clinton, the Democrats and Russia.    What was worse the Democrats spread lies through the media  for the full fore years of Trump's presidency.   They had the Mueller investigation that was supposed to find evidence of Trump's collusion and came up with nothing.  It was an embarrassment - but then the need to investigate the origins of the whole saga and it was found to be the Clinton campaign, the Democrats and the Obama Administration.

What  happened as a result was real high treason by the Democrats and the present January 6 investigation by the  House is a farce.   The Committee was supposed to be a bi-partisan investigation  - but Nancy Pelosi picked two republican House members known to be enemies og Trump and since their appointment disowned by the Republican Party to represent the Republicans in the Committee, but they represent Pelosi and not the Republican Party.   The farce  is nothing more than a farce of how about 500 unarmed people tried to cause an insurrection.

The Democrats are in a hopeless position - their policies failed horribly in execution and are in fact causing havoc in the USA,    Their rating is totally bad and the Virginia and Texas elections in November showed a Party in chaos.    The story about the Trump organization is farcical.   All the Democrats have is to try nd get votes through scaring the people with Trump being involved in the Republican Party and like in the case of the Russian hoax - anything goes.

Is it not strange that the two prosecutors tendered their resignations over a month ago and it is only announced now.

A sign of "fixing" and holding back on issues related to the DA team to allow the "Illegal Trump Claims" to be broadcasted on all media outlets for full exposure.

The Demorats method of justice'

Bearing false witness is a serious crime in most countries, even in the USA I believe.

What a bunch of scumbags these folks really are.

I must smile about the original post which mentioned that the case is a civil one which has a lower burden of proof to convict.

If the Trump organization did not pay the taxes that are due surely the IRS which is a Federal branch of the Govt. should have investigated the case and brought Federal Charges against him and the all other parties mentioned in the case.

Another Demorat funded investigation heading South I believe.
