Sanctions never works - because self-interest decides whether nations will apply sanctions or not. The oil the USA imports comes from Russia - but in fact is routed through the Saudi's and Indian. Biden lifted the sanctions on fertilizer imports from Russia - because the US Agrticultural output would otherwise have reached low not seen in the USA for a century. All the Russians did was t increase the price of the fertilizers by 800% and making unbelievable profits from, the idiots in Washington.
Germany still get gas from Russia using the pipeline running through Ukraine and so does Ukraine, The end result is the Germans are paying for the gas - inclusive he gas used by Ukraine
If even the USA and Germany cheat on their own sanctions - how the hell can it be effective.
