The article:

It is quite lengthy but very comprehensive in typical John Solomon style.

Solomon: These once-secret memos cast doubt on Joe Biden's Ukraine story

Former Vice President Joe Biden, now a 2020 Democratic presidential contender, has locked into a specific story about the controversy in Ukraine.

He insists that, in spring 2016, he strong-armed Ukraine to fire its chief prosecutor solely because Biden believed that official was corrupt and inept, not because the Ukrainian was investigating a natural gas company, Burisma Holdings, that hired Biden's son, Hunter, into a lucrative job.

There’s just one problem.

Hundreds of pages of never-released memos and documents — many from inside the American team helping Burisma to stave off its legal troubles — conflict with Biden’s narrative.

And they raise the troubling prospect that U.S. officials may have painted a false picture in Ukraine that helped ease Burisma’s legal troubles and stop prosecutors’ plans to interview Hunter Biden during the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

For instance, Burisma’s American legal representatives met with Ukrainian officials just days after Biden forced the firing of the country’s chief prosecutor and offered “an apology for dissemination of false information by U.S. representatives and public figures” about the Ukrainian prosecutors, [More silence from Schiff and Pelosi] according to the Ukrainian government’s official memo of the meeting. The effort to secure that meeting began the same day the prosecutor's firing was announced.

In addition, Burisma’s American team offered to introduce Ukrainian prosecutors to Obama administration officials to make amends, according to that memo and the American legal team’s internal emails.

The memos raise troubling questions:

1.)   If the Ukraine prosecutor’s firing involved only his alleged corruption and ineptitude, why did Burisma's American legal team refer to those allegations as “false information?"

2.)   If the firing had nothing to do with the Burisma case, as Biden has adamantly claimed, why would Burisma’s American lawyers contact the replacement prosecutor within hours of the termination and urgently seek a meeting in Ukraine to discuss the case?

Ukrainian prosecutors say they have tried to get this information to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) since the summer of 2018, fearing it might be evidence of possible violations of U.S. ethics laws. First, they hired a former federal prosecutor to bring the information to the U.S. attorney in New York, who, they say, showed no interest. Then, the Ukrainians reached out to President Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.[And everybody still want to know why Guiliani got involved, saying that Trump forced him on them? BS. They, the Ukrainians, reached out to Guiliani]

Ukraine’s new president, Volodymyr Zelensky, told Trump in July that he [Zelenzky] plans to launch his own wide-ranging investigation into what happened with the Bidens and Burisma.

“I’m knowledgeable about the situation,” Zelensky told Trump, asking the American president to forward any evidence he might know about. [He asked Trump for the information, not the other way around] "The issue of the investigation of the case is actually the issue of making sure to restore the honesty so we will take care of that and will work on the investigation of the case.”

Documents I [John Solomon] obtained this year detail an effort to change the narrative after the Times story about Hunter Biden, with the help of the Obama State Department.

[It is a long article and contains a lot of interesting material. I'm not going to quote the entire thing.]

Ukraine scandal shows that foreign influence is a bipartisan affair

Some extracts from it:

As the media show renewed interest in the involvement of both President Trump and former Vice President Biden — and Biden’s son Hunter — in the former Soviet republic of Ukraine, it’s worth asking: Was the U.S. 2016 election a surrogate battle between Russia and Ukraine?

The question isn’t new, just overlooked. Much emphasis has been given to Russia’s involvement – one cannot accurately say it has been underreported – but we have largely ignored the Ukrainian question. That’s despite hard facts linking Ukraine to multiple attempts to interfere in or influence the campaign for the benefit of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.[One has to wonder if that is not why there has been a big noise about Russia but perfect silence about Ukraine?]

The suggestion was explicitly put into the public forum as early as January 2017 by David Merkel, a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council. Merkel told Politico that Russia and Ukraine, now mortal enemies, took opposite sides in the U.S. presidential race — each presumably banking on the idea that they would be better off with their chosen candidate, in terms of influence and U.S. aid.

Politico’s investigation nearly three years ago found that: [Remember that this was back in early 2017]

-A Ukrainian-American operative consulting for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) met with top officials in Ukraine's U.S. embassy to publicize ties between Trump, his top campaign aide Paul Manafort and Russia. (It worked.)

-Ukrainian officials tried to help Clinton and undermine Trump by publicly questioning his fitness for office.

-Ukrainian officials “disseminated documents implicating a top Trump aide in corruption and suggested they were investigating the matter, only to back away after the election.”

-Ukrainian officials helped Clinton allies dig up damaging information on Trump and his advisers.

The Ukrainian efforts had an impact in the race, helping to force Manafort’s resignation and advancing the narrative that Trump’s campaign was deeply connected to … Russia.”

[Strange how Schiff and Pelosi are Schtum about this. ]

I analyzed Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) [This is the act under which they nailed Gen Mike Flynn, remember] records going back to 2012 and found at least a half-dozen interests from Russia and 19 from Ukraine turning to high-priced U.S. PR consultants and lobbyists.

The one foreign tie you might have heard about — after Ukraine sought to make it a headline in the U.S. — is that of former Trump campaign officials Manafort and Rick Gates. In 2012 their clients were Ukraine’s pro-Russia president at the time, Viktor Yanukovich, and his political group. Manafort connected them to lobbyists Tony Podesta, a Democratic heavy-hitter, and ex-Congressman Vin Weber (R-Minn.). After special counsel Robert Mueller began investigating, the four lobbyists all denied wrongdoing but disclosed their work under the Foreign Agents Registration Act retroactively. [Manafort and Gates (and Flynn, for that matter) were nailed. Podesta and Weber came off scot free.]
