It has grown common for liberals to drop the moniker to deflect. When a liberal behaves in a liberal way, the nazi moniker is dropped to paint the behaviour as being non liberal, un-liberal or illeberal.
Nazis and liberals have much in common, mostly as Nazis were inspired by the liberal actions in the US. Yet, there are major differences between the two.
For example, lately, on a mass media TV channel, in the US, a liberal who is likely to be a Christian managed to suggest that mentally ill homeless people should be terminated with an involuntary lethal injection. It is also likely that the comment was broadcast to a majoritarian christian viewership. After a half arsed excuse, the host was left alone.
Remember, peeps, Nazis had an essential and fundamental problem with Christianity as Christianity promotes empathy, compassion and commiseration. Which were perceived as contrary to the Nazi project. Christianity was even perceived as a Jewish ploy to weaken the white race.
That was in the 1930s. Fast forwarding to 2025; in a Christian liberal nation like the US, it is possible to suggest the elimination of mentally ill homeless people without causing an upset. While Christianity was perceived as fundamentally incompatible with Nazism, one must admit that Christianity is fully compatible with liberalism in the regard of eliminating mentally ill homeless people.
Did Nazism aim at eliminating mentally ill homeless people? Yes, absolutely but with the vast difference it could not be done in a Christian context. Liberals are not Nazis. Any time a liberal claims Trump is a Nazi, liberals want to deflect from the very fact Trump is a liberal.
