I have seen reports saying that America has nothing that can stop these hypersonic missiles.

And the Pentagon confirms the Patriot deployed by Ukraine did take down a Russian hypersonic missile:

The Pentagon confirmed the downing of a Russian "hypersonic" Kinzhal missile by Ukrainian air defenses on Thursday, in a Tuesday US Defense Department briefing.

"I can confirm that they did down a Russian missile by employing the Patriot missile defense system."

I do not believe a word of what comes out of the US Government -especially the WH and the  Department of Defense.   They are promoting the idea that the Rusisan missiles are useless and that it is time to promote the start of WW3.   Thoe whom the gods wish to destroy they drive mad.      

The USA has been pushing for a brawl with Russia since the 2nd World War, just now they don't have to lose men doing it.
