Lou Dobbs spells it out for all the dumbasses

Why do these Free Traders countenance any tariffs at all.....let's be totally Free Trade and eliminate them all. Also get rid of the barriers. The US will gain in that scenario, because our weighted average tariffs are lower than those charged by Europe or China. It's the obvious high ground, ideologically pure and numerically positive. So why isn't there a drumbeat to do this? Simply because import duties flow into the government coffers and because special interests like the sugar lobbybenefit enormously from tariff protection. Tariffs differentials are not a big deal....where the money goes is.
