Local stocks surge further as global rebound continues | Fin24

Despite the mass panic on last Thursday, there is a certain relief.

The media is more than often wrong.

Investing requires common sense and as long as you stick to your longer term goals, quality stocks with good intrinsic value will perform in the longer term. Never try to time the market but stick to value is a lesson that I learned the hard way. Never follow the sheep but do the opposite to what the mass panic does.

...and stick to your goals and never lose focus... that's pure wisdom.

Temporary value is often than not, not true value.

Getting correct answers to both questions is critical for short-term traders and those investing for short-term goals while long-term investors only have to focus mostly on the latter. For those with time in the market – real long-term investors such as pension investments – we believe this is the time to be disciplined and remember Warren Buffett’s wise words to be “Fearful when others are greedy and greedy when others are fearful”.

Up one day and down the next day here in North America.

Best to take some cash off the table and wait for the low that you feel comfortable with and then go back in.

Gold is always a great hold in such times I find.
