Preparations are well under way even though CV -19 looms large. It's the best part of the horse racing calendar and its something I always look forward to. There are 29 horses on the way from Europe, stayers not sprinters, all things being equal we locals can't effectively compete. From memory there are 4 G1 races with prize money into the millions of $'s. They are the 2040m W for Age Cox Plate, 2400m Caulfield Cup, 3200m Melbourne Cup and the Victorian Derby.
Watch out for for the local 4 year Russian Camelot, his grand final will be the 2400m Caulfield Cup. Also, it's been proven that Sydney has better 3 year old's than Melbourne. Can't wait.
