I went to vote this morning and when I got to the polling station the que was very long and then decided to leave voting till later in the day.   About two hours later I went back and found the que was basically the same length.  I waited in the que and then decided  to come back later in the day since polling would even be more ifficult.  It ook me near to 90 minutes to vote.

I surprised by the huge tuernout after reading in the paper the turnout is likely to be low.

Mike, at my voting station, over 60's are taken to the front of the queue when they arrive...2hours and 20min for me to cast my vote...a fart in the wind, but my fart all the same.

The ANC won the ward where I live in  2016 - the ward  includes  the informal housing settlement with predominantly Black residents.    The DA won the ward this time around with a majority of 400 voters.

DA is up and ANC down in every province compared to 2016, but the ANC still controls everything except the Western Cape despite that. Of the other provinces only Gauteng has a chance in hell of ever ridding themselves of the ANC as it's pretty close there between the DA and the ANC. The ANC walks the rest of the country.

Beeno Shark does not live here, but in Bath and the only place he used to visit that had a SA flavour is the pub in Wimbled on, The Slug and Lettuce, "nice" name but is avoided because Saffex visits it sometimes

Excellent news for KZN...DA wins a municipality here and what's more it is most desirable place to live in KZN...Howick stretching up to Nottingham Road... rather like old England countryside...the Midlands Meander. The only other desirable places, at least for me is the Agulhas Coast or Cape West Coast, ie Paternoster, Elandsbaai, Lamberts Bay or Clanwilliam. I like John Steenhuizen...but DA needs to sort out it's internal problems and become more single-minded and goal directed...too many contradictions.
