Not sure how many of you know that one of Baboon-ou's heroes . . . christian fundamentalist, pseudoscientist and young earth creationist Ken Ham . . . has rebuilt Noah's ark to scale in Williamstown, Kentucky and has turned it into a theme park that he calls the Ark Encounter.

This is not a joke. Here is a link . . . and here's a pic:

Whenever I'm discussing young earth creationists like Baboon-ou and Ken Ham, I always feel the need to explain to people that these delusional and brainwashed morons actually believe that everything in the bible should be taken literally meaning that earth is not 4.5 billion years old as scientists would have us believe, it's actually less than 10 000 years old. This creates a small problem for them because they can't deny the proven existence of dinosaur fossils so they have to incorporate dinosaurs into the Young Earth Fairytale meaning that man and dinosaurs would have co-existed before the Big Flood. Sure as nuts, here's one of the Ark Encounter exhibitions:

You can almost hear that chap in the foreground warning his neighbours that the velociraptor is back!

LMAO!

This also raises the question of why the velociraptors and other dinosaurs missed the boat so to speak and why Noah selected certain species and not others . . . not to mention how he managed to get hold of breedings pairs of arctic foxes, kangaroos, ring-tailed lemurs and jaguars that all happened to be strolling around the deserts near Mount Ararat, but that's another story.

The fact is, there are not nearly as many stupid people in the USA as Ham thought because sales for his Ark Encounter have been rather disappointing and instead of the millions of tourists he promised, only a handful of the most dull-witted christian zealots waste their money visiting the Ark which by all accounts is just plain boring . . . even for bible-bashing half-wits. This is all despite the fact that  Ham managed to use taxpayers funds to build this monstrosity, using tax rebates and government incentives (and only using workers and builders who made declarations of christian faith). You can read more about the "funding" for this "project" here.

Ham is blaming "intolerant atheists" and "fake news" for the financial disaster that is the Ark Encounter. He's sounding like someone else I know. At night, the Ark is lit up by the colours of the rainbow because Ham is trying to take back the rainbow symbol that he says was stolen by the LGBT community. Again, that is not a joke. You can read it here.

I'd like to know from Baboon-ou is he's visited the Ark yet or if he is planning to visit?

Ken Ham the moron who sold the Ark to his church for $10 to avoid paying a million dollars to the local council to contribute to the fire brigade and local services that the Ark encounter relied on only to have it pointed out to the moron that the $18,000,000 in govt tax credits had been cancelled by his actions so he promptly sold it back again for $10.

The moron is a scam artist with no morals, guess he must be a true christian then.

Christianity is a load of bullshit but Creationist take bullshit to such new heights that they even out do the Mormoms for bat shit crazy nonsense

@Draad, most scientists in the 21st century are not religious.
In the 17th century, just about everyone was religious. Even at the start of the 20th-century religion was much bigger than it is now- particularly with smarter people.
Many western scientists nowadays have Christian family backgrounds, but there can be no denying that scientists, doctors, phycologists are probably the least religious in the 21st century- and most share the belief in Darwinian origins and evolution. At best they do not read the bible literally.

Being Christian does not mean people are stupid- but the smartest people/scientists today are typically not very religious. (E.g. Einstein etc).

Believing in a god or religion does not mean you are a fool or stupid about everything it just means you are a fool or stupid about that one thing,

The more science learns the harder it has become for the churchs to convice people that their  bible is just a book written by uneducated superstitious people

Do you think Newton would be a christian if he was alive today, odds are he would not be. Atheist numbers have exploded in the last century and especially since the internet became widely available.

Shark, I know that...and I've got no problem with that, but there are those...and it's been mention on here more than enough, there are those who think Christians are stupid...what I'm trying to say is that Newton's understanding of science was better than most of the so called scientific atheists if today. He was the father of modern science and yet a believer. I'm not a Bible basher and I can understand people's aversion to religion,  but the consant attacks on religion on this site pisses me off big time...there seems to be no middle ground, no respect for anything off center...and no reasoning at all.... My way or the highway attitude...stuff of the dark ages. Intolerance is wrong, no mater where it comes from.

I do have one question for the believers on here and that is why do religious people fight so hard to stay alive?

If life after death is so much better why do you all so busy trying to stay here. If you actually believed it was true would you not all be getting there as fast as possible? Shouldn't you all be praying for death instead of life, why do christians turn to science to save their lifes when they get sick instead of celibrating like they won the lottery . Why are you sad when family members die, surely you should be happy as they are in a better place now.

Could it be that none of you are actually convinced its true but are just wishing its true?

Sader, why are you trying so hard to convince us that we are wrong?...just leave us in our stupidity. IMO Bible bashers and some aggressive atheists are two sides of the same coin. People telling other people what to believe is always a bad thing, regardless of who is right or wrong.

"there are those who think Christians are stupid."
Trekker, not sure if you meant to say "Rooinek thinks Christians are stupid" but if you're referring to comments I made a long time ago, then - as is invariably the case - you had a premature ejaculation before you actually understood what I was saying.
What I did say back then was that I'd found a statistic that shows conclusively that the lower a person's intelligence, the more likely they are to be religious.
Now unless you're in the Baboon-ou category of radical fundamentalism, the word "religious" could imply any other religion. There are many other religions. Just read Terry Pratchett's Small Gods if you don't believe me.
I think you went off half-cocked again. I'm pretty certain you'll reply to this telling me that's not what you were referring to but if that is the case, tell us who said Christians were stupid and when they said it.

Well I for one am putting my hand up for saying that because that is what I believe, but that is just my opinion no need to get upset about it. Just prove to me that your god exists and I will believe along with you.

If not be prepared to be ridculed for believing nonsense.

I'd rather side with Sir Isaac than you two. Science is a tool, not a religion. Fundamental difference between the 2.

A couple of questions regarding religion;
1) How can you know the religion you follow is the correct one? Given that neither God nor any particular religion can be scientifically proven to be real or correct. Mankind is instead asked to have faith. Here exists the conundrum. All the major religions state that believing in another religion is a one way ticket to hell.Yet they all expect their followers to believe no questions asked. If any one religion is right, then all the others are wrong, so basically God expects people to follow a religion, but gives them no proof of its or his existence. Furthermore, he has muddied the water by giving us hundreds of different religions, all with no proof, or more accurately, roughly the same level of circumstantial "proof". So God, apparently a complete sadist, creates humans knowing that the vast majority of them will die and burn in hell for eternity for following the wrong religion, no matter which one they choose to follow.
2) No atheist I have ever spoken to has said that if God presented himself to them clearly and without doubt, that they would not believe in his existence. Why does God not simply do this? If people then did not believe in him and follow the rules of his religion, an eternity in hell would be more reasonable.
As for people taking the Bible literally, well, anyone stupid enough to believe the earth is five to ten thousand years old and that two of every animal that ever existed and that currently exists was on the ark, given that we have the arks dimensions, deserves to have their money taken away and given to the greedy evangelical type preacher that was smart enough to brainwash them.

I think your reply was tongue in cheek, but let me respond anyway. Who, that is alive today, has actually met him? Nobody. So his presenting himself to mankind 2018 years ago is just an unverifiable story.
Ps I am not anti-religion. I only point out the huge holes in the story we have been fed.

So whats stopping him from popping down?
I would have thought every 2-3 generations would be the absolute minimum so people can actually see for themselves but he obviously doesnt think much of us if he never bothers to visit,I manage to visit my kids once a week and they live on the otherside of town and I am a mere mortal but obviously a much better father than your god.
Face it your gods a delinquint dad and also behind in his child maintenace payments. He is a piss poor role model thats for sure

Sader, if He does not exist,  why are you so angry at Him?

Blue, religion has been corrupted by man, but the truth is there for those prepared to seek it. And I don't mean looking for it in religion...The whole of Creation is a textbook.

PS, I'm not trying to convince anyone...or to propagate my views. I see it as a kind-hearted discussion. If the subject matter or my views offends anyone, I'll remove it and keep my mouth shut....just say the word.

The whole idea of a Jesus is offensive, just like the whole idea of Jehovah is offensive, as is Muhammad offensive. I am just not sure which one is more offensive.
