The Constitutional found that he violated the Constitution and that Parliament has violated the role determined in the Constitution of calling Zuma to account. That spells real problems for Zuma and he is likely to be recalled by the ANC.
Legal action is still pending against Zuma as to -
* the case of the failure of Zuma to take action over Omar al_Bashir, where the Appeals Court ruled that Zuma conspired to get Al-Bashir out of the country and that he was in failure of complying with the laws of the country and International obligations - which the Government has appealed to serve before the Constitutional Court;
* The legal action taken to re-instate the criminal charges against Zuma in the Shabir Shaik case - 738 charges of bribery and corruption cancelled on dubious grounds; and
* The Gupta investigation by the Public Protector; and
* Other court cases that is being undertaken at present - which is likely to end up in the Constitutional Court as well.

Ou maaaikie its nice to know the Constitutional Court is dong its duty.However don't get too excited. Finding an honest competent person to replace him from the anc ranks is a practically impossible. task. They are thoroughly corrupt and have ALWAYS BEEN SO.Whay about the Arms deal fiasco?
Beeno continuing to guide ou ma aaike on the political front!

The era of corruption involving Zuma would be gone if he is replaced. His successor will be much more careful than he was.
Zuma may yet end up in jail and that would cause the corrupt supporters to be much more careful in future. At least it will not go further down than it is at present.
The fun will now start with Gordhan - he is not going to save Zuma's bacon because the latter put the Hawks onto him. The Treasury is not going to cover that one up - especially in view of the latest folder that came to the fore where millions were spent on improvements to Zuma's own homes.

Mike I hope all the sordid mess comes into the light. I think you are overly optimistic but who knows for certain.

I have a long memory about what is going on here. The ANC Cabinet Members were attacking the judiciary left right and center and the end result was that Chief Justuce Mogoeng got the hell in with them. Zuma had to meet him to soothe matters over - I think it was in August last year.
However, I think the judgement today may have a profound impact on the other issues already before the court. This included the AlBashir case - which the ANC lodge an appeal to the Constitutional Court after losing their case in the Appeals Court. I think they might get the message and withdraw that Appeal. Even if they withdraw the case - all hell will break out in Parliament because the factual ruling was that Zuma ignored a court ruling and that it ws effectively another rbeach of the Constitution.
Then there is the 783 charges hanging over his head. The basis for withdrawing of the charges is subject of a case lodged by the DA in the Gauteng North High Court and the decision is to be taken soon. There is a problem for the ANC in this case. The decision yesterday morning reflected one thing - the decisions of the Section 9 institutions must be accepted, but may be referred judicially to the Courts for consideration. This legal principle may have a major impact on what the judges will decide on that case. They might decide that the charges were withdrawn on a frivolous basis and that could lead to re-instatement of the charges.
Another issue as well - is the misconduct charges against the 11 personnel members. Like happened in the case of that DG who was charged and fired, they would have copies of deadly info that they would use in their defense. The ex-DDG has a folder with accounts for millions of rand that was paid directly for Zuma's personal home. The others would cover themselves by having similar folders. The Labour Court has already decided that the Department must re-negotiate the termination conditions and that will open up the way for the National Treasury to act and call for the folder for further investigation.
There is no love lost between Zuma and Gordhan - especially since Zuma was clearly behind the Hawks investigation or that is what Gordhan may believe it is the case. Also Gordhan asked for the removal of the SARS CEO - an appointee of Zuma - I believe because of the investigation of the so-called Spy Unit. So whaty is likely to happen. Treasury might just say a "reasonable repayment" is the full coast of the items listed by the Constitutional Court - but also the other costs they may unearth - eg like those in the folder of the EX DDG. That could create another debacle for Zuma.
Personally I think the ANC is in panic and that is not a good sign for Zuma and his cronies. If Zuma goes quietly he may get away with the other legal and financial problems raised.
