Where are the 437 hospital  patents coming from - it I may ask?   And how many of those are effected by Omricon?    

I dount very much whether any of the patients are effected by the Omicron  virus,   The specialist  who identified the variant clearly stated that none of the carriers have been hospitalized  and that was confirmed by other medical doctors aware of the new vsriant. - the impact of which is so mild none of the people effected by the variant has shown any signs of real sickness.   

The second reason why I doubt your comment is that the cases identified thus far have been  from the Western Cape - where I indicate that their were 886  positive cases in the whole province and none has been identified as having been affected by omicron  variant.

What is also troubling me is that  the number of active cases in the  Province has been changes showing an increase from 886 active cases in the last week to 1 436 this week.   That number of cases in a Province with  a  population of circa 4,8 million people is negligible and not indicative of a serious health crisis it is made out to be in the US and UK media,    The fact is the number of active cases in Hessequa  Municipality with its circa 65 000 population has declined from  3 to 2.   .

The validity of the South African doctor's assessment has to be questioned because she is using a small sample of data. It is not enough data to be statistically significant.

She may well be right, and she is obviously an excellent doctor - but more infection data is needed to validate that this variant is weaker. 

Also, most of the people she treated were university students, and therefore young. Many young people have minimal symptoms anyway. 

This was reported on CNBC….the business channel. It’s just an interesting data point, not definitive. To get a real picture one would need to know what percentage of the population had been vaccinated in that area.

The Moderna CEO has now come out and suggested the vaccines will be less effective against Omicron, so the CNBC report may be premature.

Listen - the variant was first indentified in the world  by the specialist from SA involved and afterwards reported to the local WHO rep in SA.  That is from where the virus knowledge  variant  originated.  Since it was not a local variant - but  was brought into the country by visitors from other African countries and the sample is essentially small - but where in the world has there been any major samples available?

The SA Government lodged a complaint with the WHO on the way the matter has been handled politically in Europe with virtually no scientific proof about the threat  of the variant has been proven anywhere.    No it was not a situation between students  - it was first identified  from a visitor from Botswana - no university student.     The doctor concerned is the head of research on  that type of virus and employed by the Medical Board of SA - and not a University employee.   . We do not know the ages of the positive cases - we only know it came from other  African countries.     - so where do you get the info from?   .                    .    .      .    

South Africa is the only country to be linked with 2 variants, not even China the inventor has achieved this feat.

i am afraid that countrywide a number of 18 000 older positive cases  has been added to by the national department  and that was not in the better-administered Western Cape - but in other provinces.    The extra hospital cases stemmed from that 18 000 old cases affected by the Delta variant/    So to add the effect of the 18 000 to the new variant has been denied by the SA Government and a serious complaint lodged with the unscientifically proven conduct of foreign governments - when an assurance was given about the real impact of the virus and the way the media ran away with the story.   Even the WHO rep in SA warned about the wild speculation about the impact  of the variant.

So I am sorry - but there is too much evidence that the reactions was not based on  scientific norms and it is really BS by politicians.             

Linked to which two  variants?   What about China being linked totally to the pandemic disaster?  

If you lot send another variant around the world, we will have no other choice but to build a wall around South Africa to contain the threat.

Is that figure the countrywide count of infections or is it the one linked to the new variant?    Mozart defended his assumption based on some cooked figures and an NBC news report, while exact information on what happened in the case of the new variant has been totally misrepresented.

2 273 new cases in a country with a population of 56 000 000 - what a farce to even call that a national emergency.   It represents   0.0040589285714286% of the population.   If 33,3% of the affected people are hospitalized  countrywide i means circa 750 patients being in hospitals.   

Mozart following NBC claimed all the cases are new variant cases.   It could never be - the enw variant is in the main confined to  Gauteng Province  and  the 2273 cases is countrywide.
