'Picked a bad candidate': Conservative pops MAGA's bubble about Trump

The Republican Party cannot blame the media's positive reaction to Vice President Kamala Harris for the downturn in their fortunes, wrote National Review executive editor Mark Antonio Wright. Rather, their problem begins with the fact that they "picked a bad candidate" to lead the ticket.

The National Review is one of the nation's most prominent conservative publications, and has stood by Republicans for decades — but in recent years, many of its authors have expressed queasiness with former President Donald Trump.

"The reason why the Republican Party is, at the moment, on track to lose the 2024 election is that the Republican Party is a minority coalition that picked a very unpopular 78-year-old retread as its candidate," wrote Wright. "Trump's weakness only remained hidden for much of this year because President Joe Biden was struggling with his campaign, and voters desperately wanted an alternative to redoing the 2020 election. And now they have one."

"Is Harris an ideal candidate? Is she an incredibly talented orator? Is she deft on her feet and nimble in debate? Is she a famous wonk? Does she have a long track record of competence at the state and federal level? Has she been scrutinized by a tough no-nonsense press and come out stronger on the other side?" wrote Wright. "No, of course not — but she’s an alternative to Trump/Biden, and that’s probably going to be enough."

And the media fluff pieces about her are not going to decide any elections, he added — they are simply reflections of the mood the public is already in.

"The GOP electoral coalition is the smaller, weaker coalition. It’s lost the popular vote seven out of nine times in my lifetime (I’m 36). It has lost the Electoral College three out of the last four cycles. Conservatives might not be very eager to hear this, but 'We the People' are mostly Democrats," Wright continued.

Republicans can still win despite this, he added, but so far the only times that has happened is when they nominated outsiders — and Trump is now the last thing from an outsider you could imagine.

"Trump isn’t losing because Kamala Harris is being hyped by the press and fluffed up to kingdom come. He isn’t losing because the press is being unfair to him. He’s losing because he’s a weak, unpopular, undisciplined candidate running at the head of a weak, minority electoral coalition. That’s the truth, whether anyone wants to hear it or not," Wright concluded.

All that remains, he said, is for Republicans to "stop whining" and try to create a stronger coalition — which so far there is no indication they are trying to do.

Pretty close to the truth….if the Republicans chose Hailey they would still be in hunt. Choosing Trump again was a disaster….only some massive stroke of luck can save them at this point. 

"Not Trump" can't win twice in a row...she'll have to stand for something more than just keeping Trump out of office. I aked a serious quesstion and none of you responded.   Kenendy would have been a really good candidate for the Democratic Party - but they have decided on Biden as a front.    Biden was exceuting their ulra-left - near to Communim - policies.   The country is ruined by thsoe policies with over 60 million people requring food aid - with the FBI being used to spy on hundreds of thousands  of opponnts  the regime - with the Justice Department being used to lay fake charges agains political opponents and with he ordinary people being oppressed.

If  a Party does not tolerate democracy within itself - how will they tolerate it when in power.   Your new heroine promised to determine the prices shops  ask for food by the Government.  It was tried by Communist countries before and it failed.   It destroyed the agrcuture sector and destroyed the lives of millons of people.    Everybody bar the ruling clique became wealthier  and the rest starve.

You refer to the bleach issue that was based on a lie spread by the media.   The matter discussed had nothing to do with injections - at the time bleach was dealt with they were advising people to nsure tops of urnture and especially tables must be cleaned  properly by usng bleach.    The way the media now describe anyting they were caught out of having lied is "miss-spoken"   In the present campaign lies are described as such.

In true fascist style the control of the Party was taken over by their funders - the main funders being the Gates, Soros and Suckerman group of billionaires,   A typical example was the way the party got rid of Biden because the rich realized he has gone mentally down the draain and could not win he election.    He was kicked out by the Party as their candidate and they replaced hm with a real controlable  Kamala Harris that had a long record of leftwing viewpoints.   She must now be sold as a moderate center-leftist - but in reality she is a radical leftist if her  statements of the past is borne in mind - so she must be kept quiet and not exposed to debate and press conferences.   The funders are not interested in democracy -for them their own conduct is important,   Total Government control is what they strive for.   For them far-left policie rvd their purpose and they can conrol the Pary ledership - helped along by the media they own or control.   What the  radicals want is undermining of Demcorary and as such democracy came under increasing atack by the Biden Adminisration.   The USA are in a state where radicalism coupled to financial control is the norm in politics and the threat is from the radical left policies are the means they use to control the country.   

The fact is te Democratic Party contans element of radical nature - the Communist and fascist ideology is used to control the country,    What it means is that the ordinary people are worse off now than they were 4 yeaars ago - but the rich funders are richer.   They appoint the DP candidates and the corrupt element in the federal public service and the country itself from a democatic perspective is veering towards far-left ideology.    Corruption by the leadership and the bureaucracy  is acceptable and the media use the utmost measures to lie about opponents and protect corrupt elements in Govenment as long as they are usable and implement measures that they - THE FUNDERS-  prescribe to be implemented.

When the people respond Harris, he or she then follows it up with either just "Why" ..... or "Name one policy that she has been involved in or put in place that has benefitted the USA".
