This story tells two things:
one, it exposes (again) the story about cereals sent to Africa in order to prevent famine (hunger is growing around the world and famine will come though)
Cereals were hogged by other places and were not destined to Africa. It was another display of a classical liberal trick, use human misery to move trade interests forward. Never had to do with feeding Africa, all had to do with trade.
Two: that people thinking that values other than trade are involved are in denial. The conflict has nothing to do with lesbians, gays, this or that, defence of civilization or this or that.
It is trade motivated and the story about so called values is peanuts to throw to all those who wont benefit from the quested trade deals and whose support still is needed.
Trade, trade, trade, the ordinal value for liberals. There is nothing else.
