On Wednesday there was an election for a new council in Metimaholo Municipalitym ie the Sasolburg environment. This became necessary because the Municipality was not able to pass its budget for the current year after there was no governing party capable to rule on its own.
It took days to sot out the results and counts and the outcome was only announced today. IN the final analysis the outcome was as follows:-
ANC - 16 Members
DA - 11 members
EFF - 8 members
Communists - 3 members
Other parties - 4 members
The ANC support in the area was 76% in 2014. That dwindled to 45% in the 2016 municipal election. On Wednesday it was down to 29,1% of the total number of votes cast.
