I always thought that Gowdy was one of the sharpest members of the House, but is disappointed by what he showed in this saga,   I initially worried about why he resigned from  the House and thought he may be up for appointment by Trump in another post,  However,  with the latest info available, it seems that he resigned to safe face - they probably told him that he will not be supported to stand as an RP nominee,
