**Russia — Federal Subjects

Estimated Cumulative Conscription Call-ups Since Feb 2022**

When Putin made call ups in the cities (Moscow, St Peterburg), their was mass revolts.

Since that time, these two cities get barely any call ups. Now the rural backwater Russians are the cannon fodder.

Support for Ukraine has grown stronger across the U.S. political spectrum; nearly three-quarters of Republicans who participated in a Harvard/Harris poll last month said that they want the U.S. to continue sending weapons to Ukraine; 86 percent said that they want to impose more sanctions on Russia to force an end to the war.

Africans on this board have no other conflict to bother about... The RDC/Rwanda confict has been a blood bath for decades now and Trump's pacification attempt is a failure so far.

The easy way is for Russian forces to leave Ukraine.

Yes, but they won't...and only supplying weaponry and support to Ukraine won't work either.

If Putin takes Ukraine, it will become a buffer zone to protect Russia. His next target would probably be Finland. He wants to create barriers to protect Moscow and St Peterburg.

The Donbass is important as it makes it much easier to get to Kyiv in the future.

Putin might settle for a peace deal that is short term if he is given the Donbas.

Then he will attack more of Europe. His plan is clear - to bring back Eastern Europe into Russia. Perhaps even the West of Europe. He would have died from old age long before then.

If it becomes apparent that Putin wins the Donbass, Europe needs to join the war.

If we lose Ukraine, that is 40 million people that Putin will use as cannon fodder with experience in modern-day war conditions

Russia does not have infinite resources to throw at the war for ever. The myth of Russian invincibility and inevitable victory is a Russian Psi-Op.

Ukraine giving up its strongest defensive position, reducing the size of it's military and being cut off from military aid in return for little more than a "Trust me bro" from Russia is the height of folly.

They only have to have more soldiers than Ukraine .

It's more nuanced than that. As the attacking side Russia will sustain more causalities, that's just the reality of war. The technical superiority of western supplied western military equipment can further help skew the causality ratio in Ukraine's favour.

A recent assessment from the head of the Azov Brigade has stated for the first time in the war Russia replacements have fallen below the causality rate they are sustaining. The Institute for the Study of War's assessment is that for some time Russian replacements are almost being immediately being deployed to the sectors Russia is attacking in order for Russia to maintain their current tempo of advance, but this has prevented them from building up an operational reserve or a critical mass they could use to achieve a more decisive breakthrough.
