A very interesting posting. What Hersov is saying is very true - the Western Cape is run by the Democratic Alliance and so is most Municipalities in that Province. The major support base of the DA is the Colored population - for instance in the Hessequa Municipality where I live the Democratic Party Mayor is a Colored person.
The difference is that the Municipality is well run - the streets and services are well-maintained and there are constant improvements in improving roads. Provincial Services are way above the level n other provinces,
I worked for the KwaDukuza Municipality until the age of 70 and stopped working as a pensioner in 2012. When I and one of the other White managers left the Municipality had R500 million available for improvement of Municipal infrastructure. That money vanished without any apparent infrastructure improvements.
I moved from the KwaDukuza area (Tinley Manor Beach) to Riversdale in 2015 and it was the best thing I ever did. It was like moving from night to day. Here people are safe and happy - living costs are lower and so is Municipal charges. In 2015 my Municipal Account in KwaDukuza was R4 200+ - my present Municipal costs in Riversdale at present is circa R3 400.
So what is Hersov talking about in Politics. At present there are circa 26 million registered voters. In the last countrywide Municipal elections 11in 2021 only corca 8,2 million votes were recorded. The ANC lost control of 5 of the 6 Metro's in SA. According to evaluation only 48% of the voters supported ANC candidates. Present opinion polls indicate that the support is down to 42%.
As corrupt as the ANC is the EFF is even more so. So what coalition can work on National level? The EFF is in cahoots with the Zuma faction in the ANC - they used to hate Zuma, but now hated Ramaphosa even more. The political division of the country is even worse now - most of the support base of the ANC is divided between the Zulus in KZN and tribal groups in the rest of SA. That is a dangerous sign at best.
Good one Blobbok........it's not the first time I've heard his pearls of wisdom.
