Russia has flatly rejected any possibility of returning control of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) to Ukraine—or even allowing joint operation with Western partners—calling the site now “an integral part of Russia.”

As reported by Digi24, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated Tuesday night that “the transfer of the ZNPP itself or control over it to Ukraine or any other country is impossible.” The Kremlin also ruled out temporary access for NATO-linked officials, citing alleged risks of sabotage.

A Critical Energy Asset in the Crosshairs

Located in the Russian-occupied city of Enerhodar in Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, the ZNPP was once responsible for producing 20% of Ukraine’s electricity. Since Russia captured the plant in March 2022, it has been offline and under military control. Despite its dormant status, the facility remains strategically vital—and a flashpoint in wider negotiations over postwar reconstruction and resource access.

Last week, POLITICO reported that U.S. President Donald Trump sees the plant as crucial to a potential U.S.-Ukraine minerals agreement, aiming to tie future reconstruction to energy security. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reaffirmed Ukraine’s legal ownership but said he is open to American cooperation—if control of the plant is restored.

Moscow Doubles Down

Moscow justifies its position by invoking the 2022 “referendums” it held under occupation in four Ukrainian regions, including Zaporizhzhia. Citing these votes and a special decree from President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin claims legal sovereignty over the facility under “international law.”

The statement also warned that cooperation between NATO states and Ukraine disqualifies any Western participation in managing the plant: “Even temporary access by representatives of those countries is unacceptable.”

As diplomatic talks stall and military lines harden, the future of Europe’s largest nuclear plant may become emblematic of a larger geopolitical deadlock—where energy, sovereignty, and global power rivalries collide.

It is clar that the engotiations a touch and vey difficult - the meetin g in Jedda started on Monday and has gone through four days. If their was a total bereakdown in the process the meeting would ave stopped already - but I suspect there was no progress the meetin g would have ended,

In the meantime know bugger-all as tp what is happening and is just stirring shit because the ultra-left wants the war to continue.

You and the media knows as much about the negotiations as I know, The meeting in Jedda is today on its fitfh day and ongoing with no announcement on anything been made. So how do you know what nobody knows what is being discussed.

You obiously hope that the war be turned into WW3 - while reasonable people worldwide wants it to end, So before anybody comment on the discussions factual infomation needs to be available . Apparently the plant has been occupied by Russian soldiers and being regularly inspected by the International body responsible and was at one stage attacked by the drones used by the Ukraine Government - a very dangerous thing to do when nuclear power is being produced,

It sems the fake media is in full control of the negotiations and if there were any leakages it would be from the Ukraine Government and if that is true - it would discredit the already discredited and unelected Zelenskyy - who canceleld the 2024 election - even fiurther,. He will not get re-elected if a peace settlemnt is reached and especially not if he undermines the peace negotiations. He tried that stunt in Washington and was forced to plead with Trump to forgive him for his impertinance and does not have the means to ensure snything. If he does use press leakages he is going to suffer the consequences in fuure, He somehow had a hold on Biden and whenever he wanted money from the USA he travelled to Washington to shout and scream at Biden andgot teh money h e wanted. One wnders what hold he had on the ultra-corrupt Biden crime family and other DP politicins on the Ukraine corrupt funding system.

Logic indicates that progress are being made on the negotiations and that a wide variety of issues is under discussion and likely to continue - if there was any real breakdown it would have already ended the Jedda meeting. Under the crcumsatnces nobody can answer a question they know zero about and is not based on or has zero relevance to the present negotiations. So be patient and wait for public announcements made by the various Governmetns involved before you ask questions based on eftist opinions expressed by the ultra--left media as to what is really happening at the Jedda meeting.
