It is about the diary and daily letters - written in English - between Nicholas and Alexandra.  Elena may find it very interesting.

No Mike but the topic is interesting. The Tsar despite his faults, was a good man, just born into a position he did not want. He was a terrific father and husband. He adored them.

He was kind, thoughtful and had good intentions.

He would have been alright as a constitutional monarch.

Sadly the Menshe viks who were the majority in the Duma, under Kerensky were ousted by revolution by the filthy, murderous rabble...the Bolsheviks. Russia would have been a different country today, if England took it's finger out of it's backside and King George V did not betray his cousin and let the thugs under Lenin take Imperial Russia.

It is a very tragic and sad story...probably the worst event in history when these animals mowed down the whole family at Ipatiev.A huge lesson when proletariat and blue collars and peasants rule (similar to Africa) and just as bloody.

The Tsarina, however was a selfish and neurotic woman.

I would like to read it.

Seb

Please phone me at 082o869074 - I got my copy many years ago from a friend and it looks rather shabby.   However, I can possibly send it to you - if you promise to return it.

Spasibo Mike, that's very thoughtful of you.

Let me first see if it's available in our local libraries, which is a fairly large network covering, Hillcrest, Kloof and Pinetown and even Durban. If they have not then I'll take you up in your offer. Yes, I'll make sure you get it back, no problem. I've got a stigma about people borrowing things and not returning.
