Lio nel Messi has responded to a touching message from Rafael Nadal after the pair were nominated for the Laureus Sportsman of the Year award. Nadal urged fans to vote for Messi in a move that the World Cup winner has admitted leaves him ‘speechless’.

Rafa has always been a good guy. Same with Messi. For being as good as they are, both of them display very little ego.

Agreed….easy to support both those men. My daughter went to the Rafa tennis academy last summer, apparently a terrific experience.

Mbappé had the better FWC than Messi, despite loosing in the final.

Rafa is a chronic yes man. Give me a Courageous man of Principle like Novak any day. Novak of course is THE GOAT.

Mbappe’ had a great World Cup, until the English game where Walker effectively negated him. And Messi had by far the more influential final.

I also prefer the style of the Joker who could easily have had 2 more Majors, but for the hysterical lineswoman at the US Open and the Australian loser PM. But Rafa is a likable fellow. Novak ticks off the woke types.

"And Messi had by far the more influential final."

Don't agree...without Mbappe things would have been over for France in the first half...wasn't it a hat trick in the final, coming back from 2 down?

Probably right about France being totally reliant on Mbappe. My sense is  Messi created more and controlled the game for much of the time….his distribution is visionary .

But I  overstated it….Mbappe was brilliant for France in the final.
