A new study by the Economist and the Imperial College of London, was published days ago in Lancet. The study shows Covid vaccines saved an incredible number of lives:

The study—published on June 23rd in Lancet Infectious Diseases—found that in the first year of vaccine rollout, jabs saved the lives of 19.1m-20.4m people. Without vaccines, the study estimates, roughly three times as many people would have died from covid in 2021 alone. And 6.8m-7.7m of the prevented deaths were in countries covered by covax, an initiative created to ensure vaccines were sent to poorer countries.

Still, a lack of vaccines in some parts of the world still led to avoidable deaths. Around 100 countries failed to reach the World Health Organisation’s goal of vaccinating 40% of their eligible populations by the end of 2021. The researchers estimate that this cost around 600,000 live

……..

The Imperial College of London was staggeringly wrong in it’s initial estimates of the Covid death rate. But this is historical analysis, based on the Economist’s view of excess deaths due to Covid and peer reviewed by one of the leading medical journals.

If not precise it’s most likely directionally correct.

Has anything in the history of medicine saved 20 million lives in a calendar year. It’s huge and just to be totally objective Donald Trump has to get some of the credit for pushing this thing forward.

No chance of President Trump getting any credit for his effort with this bunch of scumbags in power and their "Lefty"media supporters.

You are correct credit should come his way for his drive and determination to speed up the process even with the political roadblocks he had along the way.

AJH (aka Farter, Arthur Martha John),

You never took the vaccine - despite the fact you almost died from Covid by your own admission, so it is surprising that you would be cheering it on in any form. Religious people that refused to take the vaccine, did so because they thought it was Mark of the Beast that would turn the world into devil-worshipping transvestites.

No politician can take any form of credit for the science behind the vaccine. Should Boris Johnson get credit for the UK being the first country to take the Pfizer vaccine, or for creating the AstraZeneca vaccine?
Boris Johnson was saying that he would continue shaking hands with people he met despite the Covid risks. 3 weeks later he almost died in hospital.

Pfizer was marketing. It was an EU person that created this vaccine, and it was branded as made in America. They were never part of Trump's marketing gimmick called operation warp drive.

The only thing I would give Trump credit for is telling the rednecks to take the vaccine - but even that did not work- they would rather listen to someone like Tucker Carlson - who obviously took the vaccine despite making money from creating conspiracies.
DumbMike and the other simpletons listen to this person and take guidance from him.

Tucker Carlson will be first in line to get the updated vaccine for the Omicron variant. All while he is generating disinformation that will discourage simpletons from creating the vaccine.
