Bribery and corruption can occur anywhere there is human beings, its not exclusive to a political ideology or restricted to certain countries. Of course in this situation its damaging and embarrassing for the EU because it prides itself on promoting anti corruption policies. How widespread was the corruption?. We don't know yet until the investigation concludes. The fact that the police in Belgium where not restricted in arresting members of the EU parliament or the fact the EU doesn't appear to have tried to cover this up suggests that overall level of corruption isn't that widespread. For now only 3 MEP's out of 705 are under investigation.
As for comparing it to the Democrats, well I'm beyond board of your endless conspiracy fuel and deranged posts about them but as I've told you before by European standards the Democrats are not left wing. They absolutely do have members who are leftist and socialist but the polices they are actually implementing are not left wing/socialist. By European standards they would be considered at the most centrist but more likely viewed as center-right.

You believe what the media preach - I look deeper and found the leadership of the Democratic Party and some of their senior members are totally corrupt. Obama did himself and his comrad es a favor by capturing the FBI and the Justice Department. I have seen bundles of proof of corruption and have also heard Biden bragging about how he forced the Ukrainian Government to fire the prosecutor who was investigating the company Hunter Biden served as a board member - Burisma. I saw a copy of the e-mail Clinton sent to Podesta - her equally corrupt campaign manager that I quoted numerous times. Those are just two examples.
If there ever is a member who used conspiracy fuel to the maximum it must be you. Despite the media - owned in the main by Biden's ultra-rich puppet masters - regularly come up with conspiracy theories and outright lies you believe the BS they are spreading. You got caught fair and square when it came to the Russian Hoax farce of the media and even then came with the story that Putin supported Trump - purely based on a remark by Mueller - who provided no evidence in his desperation to gain some credit for the farce he was involved in. He had to cover for the instigators of the problem - the Obama Administration and the Democrats. I even asked if Mueller in his report provided any proof that Putin supported the Trump election and the response was zero. In any event the Mueller investigation was aimed at finding proof of Trump's collusion with Putin and he found NOTHING because it was based on Democratic Party lies.
Insofar as the EU members under investigation is concerned - they are indeed unfortunate. The Police in Belgium may not be doing cover-up jobs like their FBI counterparts in the USA are involved in.

I am against all Government corruption - irrespective of political association. I have said that if anybody is guilty of criminality they should be charged - Trump has been accused of many things - but not a single accusation led to a court case and he never was found guilty of anything.
In the case of the Democrats it is entirely different - for instance the FTX case is a total farce - and the DNC got $120 million in grants from FTX to use in the 2020 and 2022 election campaigns. Money vanished into thin air and millions of people lost their investments - the Democratic Party passed a vote in the House to pay a grant of $1 billion dollars in aid to Ukraine. Three days later Pelosi and Schiff went to Kiev to deal with the issue - and the Ukraine deposit the money in FTX from where it corruptly vanished. Whenever there is any Democrat involved there is bound to be corruption.
I am sorry - but I do have seen reasonable written evidence to prove corruption by the Democrats and that evidence is not covered in the media you believe in. So whatever evidence quoted by me in many cases coming from leftists as well - is ignored by you and others. Why do you think the Justice Department and FBI is so eager to get hold of Assange - he sits on top of mountains of evidence of corruption in the USA federal government and if he is ever extradited to the USA he is bound to be murdered as happened in the case of Epstein and Rich.
According to the FBI and Justice Department the Democratic Party and their leadership is above the law and that practice is leading to a free-for-all when it comes to corrupt activities of both the Democrats and their supporting bureaucrats. There are evidence by the ton about the activities of Democrats - but the FBI pretends it does not exist and when questioned in Congress they claimed "the matters are under investigation" and they are not prepared to provide any information on issues they claim are being investigated. Some of those they have been "investigating" for more than three years with no results shown.
By the way there are questions asked about what the Justice Department is doing about the $5,4 billion stolen from the funds provided to assist with overcoming of COVID problems in the USA. Do you even know about that one?
