Bozo the Clown (aka Donald Tr(*)mp) is going into his inauguration with a record low approval rating for any US president (40% approval compared to Obama's 84% in 2009 - stats from this BBC article) which begs the question . . . if only 40% of idiot Americans approve of Tr(*)mp now, what were the other 10% thinking back in November?

The same polls gave him less than 2% chance of winning...they were wrong then and might be wrong now. He won 30 states, Hillary 19 with a state drawn somehow. If you ommit California (whete illegals were encouraged to vote ) , he won the popular vote by a huge margin.Don't drink all the coolaid rooi. Trvmp might be a clown or a d!ck, but he's no fool.

All politics are dirty scraps...DT won...and although he is not my choice of a real leader and that's simply because he's a braggard, nevertheless the whole immature world protests because he's an authoritarian and gets things done not like wishy washy liberals who are all words and no actions.

I say, give him a chance to prove his intentions and put them into actions...the same goes for President Putin...at least they are strong men and tough...the world needs this type of leader...yeah , they can be wrong on minor issues but they have the ability to resolve problems quickly and efficiently...no pu ssy footing with them.

Tr.ump is a classic New Yorker. Not as modest as some might like, but New Yorkers have their own code of honour. And as we saw during the September Eleventh attacks, no small measure of bravery. We have traded a dignified man who struggled to decide what tie to wear each day, with a somewhat loud man who loves making decisions. ......traded a cabinet of political hacks with a heavyweight group who have actually been part of the world beyond America. We are in much better hands, and not a moment too soon....the Middle East is burning up and Europe has almost traded away their whole future to please Obama and Merkel. Just like Brexit which elicited the same Chicken Little response none of the fears are founded She'll be right mate!

Some of the music at the inauguration is really very average, I hope his policies are better.

I don't care whether he's a "classic " New Yorker or not, he is not presidential or statesman like and he has no class.....his "Birther" campaign was disgraceful but again, typical of one who has no class. Long after it was firmly established that President O was born in Hawaii he and solely him, still kept going. Even New Yorkers find him repulsive, and for good reason. I can't remember a time so bleak when there were protests coinciding with a presidential inauguration.
His acceptance speech was painful, everytime he opened his mouth I cringed, all of it reflected in the muted response he received from the crowd. In the interest of uniting the nation the classless wonder should learn to shut his mouth.

Well, his speach was provocative to some extent, but there were lot's of positives too and emphasis on a unified American people. I liked what he said and how he said it.
And the riots on this day? Well smashing cars and burning stuff really shows your class hey? They must be looking forward to Trvmp's hard stance on law and order.I really hope he can deliver on some of his promises.

The rioting was from one particular group, it was peaceful from all the other groups.
Do you mean to gain benefit from eschewing the truth?

Denny you seem to be a little closed minded....he enters at low popularity ratings, but tellingly with high confidence levels in the economy....a contradiction. It seems to say he isn't very likeable but voters feel he will get the economy growing.

 Close minded..
Really?
With unemployment at 4.7%...the lowest in 10 years.... is that thanks to Tr.ump?.....and as for the economy.... it's been on a steady climb from the onset of the GFC under President O's watch. Confidence based on sentiment alone is foolish.....thus far Tr.ump has been hot air .
But that said, if you still think I'm close minded and all credit should go to BS Donald then it's fine by me.

Yes, in that way he reminded me of B.J. Vorster

Just watched a piece on Sky. Lots of similarities between him and Ronald Reagan. They were rioting back in 1980 too.
BJ Voster, can't recall him wanting to unite all of SA and wanting to create opportunities for all. It should be every governments major responsibility to put their country and their citizens first, before looking to the wider world.

Denny, I'm worried about trump too, but less than you. I have hope.
On BJ, in 1990 @ Stellenboch, I was in the same English class as BJ Vorster Jr, His grandson. Even back then, he was struggling to live down his name. He was an ANC member and very outspoken against the nats. He wanted to change his name, but his mother would not permit it. I wonder if he changed it when he turned 21. Ironically the building where we attended the smaller work groups was still the BJ Voster building.
The Verwoerd grandchildren has a tough time too...the sins of our fathers.

Tx mate, I find that very interesting.
Just as an aside, I know very little about you guys, in my travels I've had many opportunities to engage people of your background...don't take this the wrong way but believe me it's like hitting a brickwall.
There used to be a poster called Groenbloed on the old SARU board, it's a long story but we actually met, had a night out with our wives, had a great dinner and he shouted tickets to a Stormers game...CT put on it's worst weather, it was pissing and windy but do you know what, it was one of the best night's out ever. I hope to see him when I eventually visit the Cape. It also happened to be my first visit to Newlands.

The fact that voting isnt compulsory in the US and gerrymandering of the system means they always have a chance .Lazy arsed Yanks now crying over their healthcare being replaced by pics of some orange mongs arse waving at them. And my old Dad would have been able to explain to even a fuktard like beandork why stepping too close to Chinese soil is a stupid thing to do .He got to see quite a few Chinese from a distance ,firing 25 pounders at them from the NZ artillery battery supporting the Aussies at Kapyong  in Korea.Strangely enough when I was in the Australian Army I was based at Kapyong Barracks for a while.

Nobody is celebrating the 4.7% number. .... 1. Labour force participation was the lowest since the seventies throughout Obama's second term .... 2 There are double the number of long term unemployed as in normal times....ie workers out for more than 6 months. .......... 3 Wage growth is only 2.5% but should be up at 4% at this unemployment level, demonstrating how misleading the number is. ..... As for Obama's economic role about the only thing of note was establishing measurements for the banks which had little impact on the banks but gave him political cover. ..... For the rest TARP was established under the Bush administration as was the help to the Auto industry that Obama loves to claim. ..... Most of the other things he did were negative......taxing capital gains for healthcare surely the most bizarre tax ever, failure to give US companies an incentive to bring back overseas funds, raising general taxes, imposing unnecessary regulations, promulgating Obama care which switched jobs from full to part time. ...... In truth he wasn't very interested and almost eveything he did was to punish business.....fortunately the Fed had learned the lessons of the Great Depression and kept funds available...even though Europe did it's best to repeat Great Depression mistakes. ....... Keep it real.
