Yes they do croak long before their time...Steve Mac Queen, Clark Gable and John Wayne...tough old bastards.

But every now and then some surprises...my Aunt Janet, a nursing sister died at 94 recently...she was smoking 50 a day since her 20'ties but by and large a filthy habit.

Do you want to end up like this...lol

Seb, I quit 3 months ago. It's still difficult, but I feel much better and I haven't gained weight yet. Have struggled to kick the habit before, but failing in a couple of weeks. Probably the hardest thing I've done in recent years.

Draad ... great stuff man.

I quit in 2009 after 27 years of smoking. I ended up slurring my words and became paranoid over everything. It was a tough time ... but I hung in there.

The body is a wonderful thing. It'll fight with you against all foreign substances if you let it.

I looked for something to motivate me. A friend of mine suffered from emphysema and would cough till he was literally blue in the face. It eventually brought on a heart attack which killed him.

He was suffocating everyday and the strain was just too much to bear. A hell of a way to go. He couldn't even walk from here to there with out going into a total coughing fit. You don't want that, Draad.

I decided to up the anti by running every second day. It forced me to breath deep and heavy and I'm convinced that it helped me drastically reduce the cravings. My fight lasted two weeks to the day and I haven't had a craving since. That's near on 10 years ago .

That's how I got into running with my dogs.

Don't give up man. You can do this.

Draad

Good luck dude. If you feel like relapsing then Vape it up man.

Works a treat, doesn't stink and zero tar.

Been on it for two years now and I literally can't imaging smoking again.

Recently lit a smoke for a friend who was driving and OMG I couldn't believe how awful it was. How the hell was I ever a smoke!?

If you start picking up weight, hit the gym man. Turn tho se calories into steak haha

What??

No man, Plum!!

Best bet is not to draw anything into your lungs other than breaths of fresh air.

Besides, vaping consists of man made chemicals. It is by no means healthy for you. You need to clear your lungs out. Give them a chance to recover. Not clog them up with harmful chemicals.

Both my lady and I had lung function tests recently and doc said if we hadn't told her she'd not have known we were smokers.

I do agree that down the line they might realise that some of the chemicals in there might cause issues.

As time goes on I do va pe less and less though, which wasn't happening with ciggs.

Well ... quitting cigarettes isn't an easy thing. One suffers for an extended period of time and it wears you down if you let it.
If your head isn't in the right place you won't manage.

That's where you win or lose the fight.
Besides ... who in his right mind wants to smoke / vape a "lemon cream muffin" ... ??
My eldest son vapes. If it's not "pancakes and strawberries" ... it's "vetkoek and curried mince" flavoured.
Guess I'm too old school to appreciate this.
