Some want the death sentence to be available for the absolute worst offenders. (e.g. 20 life sentences).
When someone with 20 life sentences is in jail they will die of old age - and still in debt to society because they did not serve out all sentences in jail.
The vaccines appear to work safely and were manufactured some time ago, it has taken months to go through 3 stages of testing.
Pfizer has just completed phase 3, and Oxford will have as well.
The lowered Covid levels in Summer slowed down data collection as it took longer to get infected with Corona than it does right now given how rampant it is now.

Some people want to use challenge tests by infecting themselves with Covid (e.g. young doctors) to speed up the testing process.
All things considered, if someone is getting the death sentence - another option would be to use them in challenge tests at an earlier stage of vaccine testing.
Certainly a moral question. Is it better to keep our humanity by being morally correct and not do this, or to save more lives as a result of faster testing?
