Liberal societies are no democracies. They support a representative system based on the consent of the governed. Back in the good old days of slavery, slaves had legal representatives : their owners. Owners represented slaves while slaves were not represented by the owners. The owners wanted the institution of slavery to endure while the slaves wanted to abolish slavery.

It is a mattering point to accept about the liberal system : everyone must have representatives and people when having representatives may not be represented;

Additionally, when the white race was invented, it was defined against black skinned people. People could be white as long as they had no black skinned ancestry. One black skinned ancestor and it is over. On the other hand, and that shows the inexistence of the race concept, blacks were considered blacks no matter how much white people ancestry they had. It is a mattering point as it exhibits the obsession with purity among liberals.

Let's assess consequences: : two party system in the US so anyone must get a representative from one party or the other. And following the previous remark, it means there is a pure party and a mixed bag party. What religious fanatics have in common? having a religion and being fanatics.What non religious fanatics and religious fanatics have in common? being fanatics.

This could mean that religious fanatics get representatives from the same party. Yet it is not happening due to purity concerns.Religious fanatics consider they have not enough in common to get representatives from the same party.

So it means that religious fanatics must be split over the two parties. When republicans state there is an alliance between atheists and muslims as both get their representatives from the democratic party, it is incorrect. This forced situation is a product of the liberal system. Christian republicans do not want muslims in their party and therefore muslims must get their representatives from the other party. Which means getting representatives from the party atheists get their representatives from. It comes with very different consequences since the democratic party can not press an atheist nor a muslim agenda etc And this goes for anything as the democratic party is destined to collect all the rejects from the republican party.

Another thing is hatred. WHile liberals try to disqualify hatred as a human feeling, they are also big on wanton hatred. Liberals hate a lot and they hate for no reason. It means a lot because liberals will not join a party that works as representatives for people they hate. And since the democratic party is a collection of rejects, who are most of the time wantonly hated, it means that republican votes will not switch sides no matter how poorly the republican party treats them. Liberal republicans will prefer to suffer rather than to join the party that represent people they hate on.

Just another structural problem to explain how the democratic party keeps struggling and not reaping benefits from Trump's antics.
