The Eskom Loadshedding Pandemic

The latest is the latest press release on the topic:-

"The risk of moving to Stage 6 load shedding is high and will be confirmed by 2pm, Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter said on Tuesday.

In an urgent briefing called by the power utility on Tuesday morning, De Ruyter announced that Eskom would probably be forced to implement Stage 6 load shedding because unlawful and unprotected labour action at a number of power stations had caused delays in carrying out planned maintenance and repairs.

The full staff complement had not reported for duty at a number of power stations. As a result, generation losses had not been reduced as planned, which had compelled Eskom to consider raising the load shedding stage, he said.

In essence, Stage 6 load shedding means that South Africans will experience about six hours of power cuts in a day.

Eskom chief operating officer Jan Oberholzer warned that should the unlawful action continue, the risk for higher stages of load shedding may increase up to Stage 8.

Eskom appealed to its labour partners and striking employees to put the people of South Africa first, respect the law and to desist from unlawful and undemocratic conduct.

Eskom called for the labour dispute resolution process to be allowed to run its course without illegal acts of intimidation and damage to property.

“We clearly need to resolve the matter. We have a situation that is not sustainable.

“Those workers who are striking, we urge you to respect the law. It is highly regrettable that the entire interests of the country is at risk … but we urge these workers to refrain from acts of violence and intimidation,” De Ruyter said.

He added that the longer the strike action continued, the further the backlog of maintenance, adding to the strain on the already struggling power grid.

Eskom will consider all legal options at its disposal for damage caused or incited by union representatives."

I have a suggestion to solve the problem - whenever thereis a refusal of the workers to end their strike or whenever there is damage done, arrest the guilty ones and gve them a 5 minute trial after which a firing squad stands waiting outside the court and shoot the bastards.   How many people in SA have died because of their traitorous conduct? 

And while the power grid is in danger of collapse...

- government is silent and absent

- the president is in Germany

- illegal strikes in an essential industry that threatens to cripple the entire country continues unabated with no sign of an emergency protocol being enacted to protect key infrastructure

All these strikers that are threatening essential infrastructure, refusing to work and intimidating and preventing those workers who want to show up should be charged with treason.

And of course, a few weeks ago the government secures hundreds of millions in a loan for fucking pointless Covid-19 vaccines while Eskom is barely staying afloat. You can't make this shit up.

Nothing worse than what is going on in the USA at present insofar as corruption is concerned.   .   

The situation is that yesterday we had 9,5 hours without electricity due to load-shedding.   How much worse can it become before the system self-destruct?     I am fortunate I have a gas stove  in the house  and has a home generator as well as a fire-place using wood  to heating up the house in the present cold winter situation - but how many people have those for food preparation and heating purposes? 

And how can industry and commercial activities financially survive under present conditions?           .

So back to the topic - we had 10 hours of loadshedding for the 24 hours up to 10:00 today.   Since then we had two  load shedding s of 2.5 hours and the next one is due at 18:00 with another due at 22:00  and then one at 02:00 and another at 08:00.    

This has been going on for 14 years and is only getting worse...The ANC is useless, they can't fix this...fcn idiots should all be quartered ...they don't deserve to live in this country, never mind rule...
